I just signed up for a 5k Thanksgiving morning The Cardia Classic 5k near Albany. I was going to get my dad to race too, but he is an integral part of making my post-race meal (ie Thanksgiving Dinner) so I decided not to distract him from that very important job. I’ll probably head to the race solo, since my parents will be cooking and due to the time of our meal, we’re going to have to try to get DS to take a late morning nap.
Who else is running this Thanksgiving?

I am! I have run one every Thanksgiving since I was 14, except for one year when I had mono and another year when I had a sprained ankle. I love Turkey Trots!!!
ETA: I am 30 now, so that is a lot of Turkey Trots!

I’m thinking about it, but it’s going to be SO dang cold!! I’m not a very good cold weather runner..

I am!! My brother, cousin, and I are running a 10K on Thanksgiving morning and I’m ridiculously excited about it. Afterwards, we have Thanksgiving lunch with my parents, then (3 hours later) dinner with my nusband’s family. I’m being proactive and burning calories before I gorge myself (twice) on delicious food.

Me too! Fiance and I are running an 8k. I can’t wait. This is the first race we’ve done together.

I really, really, really wanted to. We were all set to spend Thanksgiving eve with FI’s family, run a local trot in the morning, hop in the showers at his parents house, then trek up north to my parents. Then my parents decided to be awesome and come to our place for Thanksgiving (saved us 5 hours of driving!), so we will be home and have to cook. I believe our plan is to each run while the other one babysits the bird. I plan to do 10 miles (or 3 pieces of pecan pie, which is my sole motivation), Fiance doesn’t plan and just runs what he feels like 🙂

Me! Thanks for reminding me to go sign up. I’ll be doing a 10k. I love Thanksgiving morning runs.
ETA: haha, the website for my run says “Dress your kid up as a turkey for the kids dash, and they run for free!” Awesome!

I’m doing a 5-miler downtown with one of my friends!
Best way to have a (relatively) guilt-free Thanksgiving. 🙂

I am- 5 miles. I ran a 10k about 6 weeks ago and have only run 5 miles twice since then, so it might be a little tough.

We’re going on our honeymoon over Thanksgiving. I’ll be running the equivalent of a 10k on the cruise ship… does that count?
My first ever 5k was last year and it was the Turkey Trot .I am bummed to be missing it this year.

I am! I’m hoping its chilly so I can possibly run my first sub 25 5k! I ran a sub 8 minute mile 8 miler a few weeks back on my own and was so proud I never thought I’d see 8 miles at a 7:52 pace!

This thread needs a bump.
Also, my 10k is for the extra helping of my mom’s amazing stuffing, 1 slice each of pecan pie, pumpkin pie, and apple pie, and tiramisu. No guilt for me this year!
