So I just finished the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning and it was amazing! I never got into Harry Potter or the Twlight series but this is like a mix of both but it is for ADULTS! There are plenty of scenes where I don't think anyone under the age of 18 should be reading. And there is a character in the book that I am in love with. How stupid does that sound?? lol. The character in the novel is actually based off of Eric Etebari...holy hot! So any of you ladies ever read a book that had a character/characters in it that you just couldn't get out of your head????
I have to say Ranger or Morelli from the Stephanie Plum series (by Janet Evanovich). They're one of those characters that you just picture in your mind and no human being will ever live up to your imagination!
Haven't read the Fever series but might check it out, I'm intrigued now! :)
@caffeiney: Please read it! It is amazing!!!! I flew through the 5 books in about 8 days! Let me know if you do, it would be nice to have someone understand my obession lol
Well, I usually like victorian based novel, I have no idea why. But one of my favorite characters, and this has been since high school, has been Gemma Doyle from the Great and Terrible Beauty series.
I was mildly obsessed with Edward Waverley from Waverley by Sir Walter Scott in high school. He was just such a great guy and I loved his down-to-earth romance story.
There have been plenty of characters I've been obsessed with over the years...usually they are from guilty pleasure young adult romance novels hahaha. But NOT Twilight. Never that. lol. I used to really be into the characters from A Walk to Remember...both the movie and the book...
On a side note I was once very obsessed with a cartoon character. That is super weird, and I can never make fun of anyone else now that I've admitted to that haha.
For the longest time, I was in love with Jamie from Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. He's still a lovely character, but luckily, I've gotten over my infatuation!
Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice, Mary Lennox from The Secret Garden are my favorite female characters.
Crush wise? I don't know haha! I guess I had a crush on Sean Bateman from The Rules of Attraction. Don't know what that says about me!
@kate169: which cartoon character? I had a MAD crush on Trent from Daria through high school and college. I wasted way too many years crushing on boys like that in real life, too.
I love the main character Conor Larkin from the the Trinity and Redemption series. He's a strong character that risks his life for his family and country. They are two books that I put down then pick back up a few months later to read again. My favorite name is Conor because of this book. lol I will name my son after this character. :)
@missrobots: I would not admit this in real life, but this is the internet and you can't see my face haha so my cartoon character crush was Vegeta from Dragonball Z.
There was also a period of time where I liked his son, Trunks (the grown up version lol). I mean, I was 14-15 at the time haha.
Good to know I'm not crazy!!!! I love reading but never really got into the Twlight series or Harry Potter. The Fever series is like a mix of both but on steroids and NOT for anyone under 18 in my eyes at least. Anyone know who Eric Etebari is? Like I said before, one of the main characters in the series is based off of him and the character he played in the Witchblade series...so hot!! lol
Atticus from To Kill a Mockingbird- seriously. I even attempted to name my son after him, but I was over ruled, haha. Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice is another I love. I am an avid reader and my list could probably go on and on.
@Shosha1: Love the Outlander series - never fell in love with Jamie, but completely understood why Claire did!
I was obsessed with Little House on the Prairie books when I was younger and Laura is still my fav book character.
I'm obsessed with the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaigne Harris - they're what the series True Blood is based on. I had never watched the shows but loved the books and then last weekend, FI and I just got HBO so we watched a marathon of True Blood episodes. Now I'm obsessed with the books AND the show. :)
@KatyElle: Um...hell yes on Elizabeth Bennet! I feel like she's such a strong and witty woman, yet realized that she was totally wrong and wasn't afraid to admit it. Love her...
Kinsey Millhone from Sue Grafton's Alphabet Murder Series
Rowan Mayfair from Ann Rice's The Witching Hour
Two characters I was infatuated with, Jamie from the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, and Jericho Barrons from the Fever series. Drool worthy characters, they brought me right in to the books :)
Henry from the Time Traveler's Wife. He's so flawed (and the book does a great job of showing that) but his heart is so completely Clare's and he is so dedicated to being a good person that she deserves.
@Sweethart: Yup, Barrons was the one I was talking about. And the actual actor that he is based off of brings him to life who is gorgeous!
@FutureMrs86:I just finished that series as well! I could not put the books down. I loved them!!
I'm obsessed with pretty much every Harry Potter character. HP was the biggest thing in my life from middle school through... well, okay, pretty much now. I'm a huge Potterhead and almost all of my friends/family are, too.
I also really love the main character from Sophie Kinsella's Confessions of a Shopaholic series, Rebecca Bloomwood. She's very much like me and I enjoy reading about her antics. I feel we'd be the very best of friends.
Also, The Hunger Games. Has anyone else read them? Amazing series - the first film is being released this spring, and I highly suggest you pick up the book first because it's a quick read and you'll love it. VERY dystopian, so if that's not your thing skip it, but if it is you'll be in awe. I'm re-reading the series for a third time now to prepare for the film's release. Katniss Everdeen and Haymitch are my personal favorite characters, but they're all fascinating.
@missrobots: I had a crush on Trent, too! I used to write terrible, terrible Daria fanfic in middle school that mostly introduced a "new girl" loosely based on myself for him to fall madly in love with. Bahahaha!
@CallmeC: Ha, me too! My husband would never go for it, but I love the idea!
@Miss Olive: Have you read her Highlander series?? I just started it andd I'm thinking I will like them just as much! I hope so at least!
@missrobots: I recently stumbled upon a folder hidden within the depths of my old "school" folder on my external hardrive that was teeming with the worst fanfic and all written by me. I was tempted to destroy it, but just couldn't so I password protected it just in case I die suddenly and someone wants to look through my files hahaha.
@jocember: You need to keep it and take it to one of those embarassing readings they have!
@FutureMrs86:I have read the first one and am half-way through the second. I'm really struggling to finish it. I have heard that 4-7 are the best and that you don't have to read them in order. I just feel compelled to read them in order anyway.
@KatyElle: Most definitely Elizabeth Bennett! Love her, love the book, and have developed a bizarre literary crush on Mr Darcy. My Mr Darcy infatuation has crossed over into having a major crush on Colin Firth as well because I just can't read P&P anymore without picture him in my head as Mr Darcy.
It also doesn't help that DH is also a big fan of the BBC version of P&P (he and his brother are obsessed with the movie, which actually cracks me up) and we all sit down to watch it together quite regularly.
This is such a great thread! I'll be adding these to my must read list!
Cat, from the books Psion & Catspaw. I have them together in a main book called Alien Blood. And ditto the Outlander series, I adored so many characters in that series and I'm marrying a real life Ian, except he has both legs, LOL! He even compared me to Jenny! xx
@Miss.Sunflower: I just finished that series! So good! I read too much, it is so hard to pick a favorite!
@Miss Olive: I read the first one and I am just starting the second and I'm enjoying them and I have also heard the same!!!
@Shosha1:Jamie from Outlander is my soulmate!! If they ever get around to making a movie, I think I will be just as insuffeeable as all the Twlight tweens swooning over whatshimname.
@jocember I just finished reading the Hungar Games Series...Loved it and I also Find Katniss Everdeen to be one of my Favorites.
Among with a few others I absolutely love Luna from Harry Potter theres just something about her personality.
Dicey from Diceys Song by Cynothia Viot is also a charector that hasn't left me my teen years.
