I returned my wedding band to the place I purchased it at yesterday being told that the return would be processed today. By this afternoon I called to see the status as we have yet to hear word. The woman that sold me the ring, said that she hasn’t had the chance to process it giving me a lame excuse with some attitude on the side. Whatever. I just wanted it to be processed today as promised.
I had my Fiance call them (this company has a history not returning calls and emails once we purchased a ring from them. They had my engagement ring at their office for a complimentary appraisal, and trying to get it back was equivalent to pulling teeth). He got the ball rolling and I finally got an email from the woman asking for information to process the return. She also said that she is doing us a favor not charging us for the complimentary appraisal (!!). The return is finally processed. How awesome of them to do what their 30 day return policy promised. I’m so annoyed by the crap we had to go through. They acted like it was a favor that they were processing the return. They said that they haven’t done a return in so long, so they needed time to recall how to do it (wtf. seriously…)
After the hell we went through trying to contact the company, it was an easy decision to return the ring and go elsewhere. Luckily, I found a much better ring and I cannot wait to get it.

Wow, I’ve never heard of something like that. Why did it take long for the return to process? How did you make the payment?

@MrsPinkPeony: We paid by credit card. They were a headache to deal with, and I am glad to be done with them! The reasons they gave me as to why it took so long were 1) the girl just got back into town and hasn’t had the time 2) they haven’t done a return in so long, so they had to remember how it was done. That last one sounded strange. I have a scanned copy of the receipts.
I’m wondering if I should cancel my current credit cards (it was paid twice. Half the first appt, and the rest when I picked it up last week) because they have my credit card number, but not the security number. Any thoughts on this?

don’t cancel your credit cards for a small reason like that. esp if you plan to open a new account to replace it. it’s supposedly not good for your credit to open and close accounts all the time. it’s not necessarily bad either, but this is not a good reason to close an account.
if you are suspicious that they might steal your account info, just keep an eye on your statements and report any fishy activity.

If you’re really that concerned, you don’t have to cancel your card. Call up card services and tell them that you think your card number may have been compromised. They will send you a new card with a different number and “cancel” your old card. Same account, different number. That way there is nothing to worry about on your credit report, and you can sleep at night knowing that the shady jewelry store can’t access your account.
