I was planning on having my mum do it. She did it for my SIL and liked that, so she wants to do it for me.
I guess if she ends up being too busy for some reason, I'll just get my FI to do it.
I would ask your mom about that one. Mine definitely wanted to be the one to button/zip my dress up. It was a nice moment, and she would've been so mad if I had asked someone else to do it!
My sister/MOH did mine. I've been a MOH a couple times for friends, and I did theirs as well. I always made sure to go with them for at least one dress fitting so I knew how to do the laces/bustle just right!
One of the times that I was the MOH, the bride's mom was running around pinning corsages on people while we were doing the dress, so she definitely wouldn't have had time. When I got married, my mom was right there watching, but my sister/MOH did it.
Thank you ladies!! So, overall. Probably just have my mom do it and if not then my MOH. :)
Yeah, it was my mom. She was probably the only one who could do it, and it was a nice moment to have her do it. She wasn't busy with anything except helping me get ready.
My mom and it was a nightmare. Even after doing it a few times at the bridal salon and WATCHING YOUTUBE TUTORIALS, she still couldn’t do it right. My dress was way too loose and she couldn’t get it any tighter. It kept sliding down all night. I so wish I would have had my MOH with me at my final fitting so she could have done it for me. Whoever you have lace you up, make sure they practice at least a few times before your wedding day so that they know exactly how it’s supposed to be done. I couldn’t even wear the shoes I planned to wear because my dress was too long. Epic fail, Mom!
My momma did it. :) And we got some great pictures of her lacing me up on the wedding day. So glad it was her!
P.S. While my mom was lacing me up, my BMs were straightening out all of the different layers of my dress! :)
I had my BM do it. She stayed with me at the hotel the night before. We practiced the night before. Make sure you do that. I watched a few Utube videos to see the different methods and we picked the one that seemed to work best for us.
One of my BMs will do it...She works for a bridal salon, That dress wont budge when shes done with it. ;)
@UpstateCait:My mum made a mess too, lucky it was a practice and my sister walked in, told her off and took over.
So on the day my sister with the help of my cousin did it and made a great job.
my mom! she came to all my fittings to learn how to do it correctly. My cousin had to do the hook and eye for the zipper because my mom couldnt see it, but she did the rest :)
My mom wanted to, but I knew she wouldn't be able to do it tight enough. My dress was very heavy so lacing me up wasn't that easy. My MOH ended up doing it. My mom still wanted to be in the photos though so she tried to pretend to lace me up but only got in the way so we had to ask her to back off.
my sister is a BM and she is going to do it for me. my mom isn't really into that kind of stuff, plus my sister was a BM in one of her DH's cousin's weddings and has experience cinching a bride into a corset dress. we'll still probably have to do it a couple times (since she lives in NYS and i'm in MN) and i might watch a vid or two to give suggestions, but i think experience is the way to go here, lol.
for my sister's wedding my mother and i (not a BM) were going to do it... except that I was busy getting my hair done so they started without me. I get to the room where she was getting ready and my mom was super stressed and not making it a fun experience for me, or my sister. She also volonteered for bustling which also didnt work out.
I'm going to have my bridesmaid's help me, one will specifically be in charge of the corset back because she has a lot of experience with them. Less stress, yes please!
I'll probably have my Mom zip my dress up - she bought it for me so it's only right. Also, I'm her only daughter so I know she'll really cherish small moments like that.
I didn't realize tying up a wedding dress was that big of a deal that it could get messed up. My mom has laced up my dress once for me to try on and it was plenty tight enough, she didn't seem to have much trouble with it even though shes a weakling lol, but maybe thats because my dress is super lightweight. Hmm interesting.
My mom faked it for pictures :) Then I had my MOH and one of my bridesmaids. It took 2 to get it tight enough. And they had each been to fittings with me to try it, so it went fine! :)
MIL did mine, although she was very worried about "messing it up."
It was a joy though. :) I was glad she was the one to do it.
My sister and bridesmaid. Unfortunately, neither one was able to be at the dress fitting. As a result the back of the dress didn't look the way it did when it was laced in the dress shop. Both my sister and friend didn't get the corset tight enough. So there were no cool pictures of the back of the dress......
My mom is AWFUL at lacing up corset dresses, heck she can't even unlace one and that is easy, haha! I had my MOH, who is my cousin, lace it up - we always laced eachothers prom dresses in high school so it seemed appropriate to have her do it for me =)

Ladies with a tie up/lace up dresses.... who did this deed for you??
When I bought my dress, the lady at the store said NOT to have my mom do it bc she would be busy with her own stuff and also with just being with me, and also she said that if I had a LOT of BM's then one could do it. I have 3. SO, Im just curious who are you having/ who did you have tie up your dress for you??
Bridesmaid? Aunt? other friend?
