So… you and your SO are headed on a vacation. Of course you each need clothes… but there is all that “other” stuff (confirmations, sunscreen, cameras, guidebooks, towels, etc etc etc). who packs it?
When my husband and I are traveling I take responsibility for the bulk of our packing. Basically he needs to pack his clothes, shoes, and toiletries, and I do the rest. I suspect that is probably common… but I was just curious 🙂
And also procrastinating starting packing after making my list. haha
So who packs for you?

We each pack our own stuff.

I pack basically everything. If we need special things like maps, confirmations or if we are out of something we will need, I send him after them while I pack.

We both pack our own. I pack anything we would both need, and then double check his stuff to make sure he hasn’t forgotten anything.
I didn’t check at Christmas and the man forgot to pack a jacket.

@SapphireSun: lol what is it with guys? i was just making my packing list (which includes all “joint” items). I asked if he needed me to make him a list. He said “nah i’ll just throw some sh*t in a bag.” Sigh. I made a “do not forget these” list for the non-obvious things… but its making me nervous hah

We each pack our own things but I always ask him “did you remember your toothbrush? deodarant?”

We pack our own things and have our seperate suitcases…I prefer it that way because Im a VERY messy person…so my suitcase is completely turned upside down by the 2nd day of the trip and it annoys FI to no end! so we do our own thing 😉

If I didn’t pack everything, the boys would head out for a week at the lake with just an overnight bag with two partial change of cloths, a fishing pole, and the paddle boat. They would forget everything else. They might remember the toilet paper, but that is still iffy.

We alternate, sometimes I pack it and sometimes he packs it. I’m much better at going it on my own though; I have to tell him EXACTLY what to pack, whereas I can just pick out stuff for him on my own.

I pack everything for us and always complain about it. This is one of the few silly things we fight about in life. He always wins and I pack for him and then I always forget something really major like his contact solution or socks LOL Then he’ll get all mad and I’ll say, “See? That’s why you need to pack your own shit!”
I don’t do it on purpose, I just literally get all flustered packing at the last minute (I’m a last minute packer) so I’m bound to forget something and it’s usually his stuff haha maybe one day he’ll learn and pack for himself on the next trip.
He also comes to me for what to wear right when i’m in the middle of doing my thing getting all dolled up (when we go out to a club with friends once in a while) and this also annoys me. I mean I know he just wants my approval and for me to like what he wears but he’s such a guy. He can’t even pick out an outfit and I’m like, “REALLY?” Just wear anything, you’ll look great no matter what” and he gets mad at me for not stopping what I’m doing and becoming his personal stylist. Such a baby! I’m trying to break him of this.

I put out the items I want packed for me and FI usually packs everything, he’s really good at taking us from 4 bags, down to 3.

If he packs for himself I can be sure I’ll still get blamed for not bringing essential items such as HIS undies/socks/toothbrush so its easier if I just pack for both of us!

Oh this reminds me, we were travelling to a wedding last year and I had packed for the both of us the day before, he was picking me up from work on our way to the wedding, and the only, ONLY thing I asked him to pack for me was the bra I needed for the wedding outfit that was still drying on the line. Did he remember this one key item?? Don’t be silly. =)

I usually pack everything. Not because he wont but because I need to KNOW it went in! I usually have him double check and run down anything we might have missed… oh and take some of my clothes that I overpacked out… because I tend to do that.

My FI is the world’s biggest over preparer and would never ever let me pack everything. He would pretty much take every item we own everywhere we go if possible. He has just gone home to visit hhis family, for 4 days mind you, and has taken at least 10 shirts underwear and pairs of socks, a 6 man tent, a portable hot water system, and about a billion other things. And yes, they have a house, and a bed for him to sleep with.
When I say that maybe he’s getting a little carried away, he sings this:
It’s just his one quirk, and I guess it’s kinda cute.
