Have to say I’m pretty proud of how fast we have got everything together. My Fiance is in the Military and we were going to just have a courthouse thing and then a reception a year from now, but then we decided why not just do it now. I’m so happy we decided to have a wedding vs just going to the courthouse (nothing against that) however I am starting stress about all the little details 🙁 I’m sending out invitations this week, and still need to finalize the menu and music playlist for the DJ. I cannot get my mind off of wedding things!

@AllyBernard: We planned ours in 5.5 months, and it was AWESOME! No time to second-guess, no time to deal with people trying to up-sell us… It was great! We had our dream wedding for less than 5K, and even with a LONG Carribean honeymoon and counting our wedding bands and the art and jewelery we bought on vacation, we still spent less than 10K on our 44 person wedding!

@AllyBernard: I am also a military bride and we are date twins 🙂 Granted I had about a year to plan, but I know how you feel! I am stressing about the little details too. I think it’s only natural when it’s coming up so quickly. But they will get done and it will be a great day. 🙂

@BrandNewBride: No time to second-guess, no time to deal with people trying to up-sell us very true. just stay focused (eye on the prize).

I think I would have had a really easy time planning in 6 months or so since I did absolutely nothing for so many months during my year of planning (from about 10 to 5 months out I didn’t do much), but unfortunately I wasn’t willing to have any other date so I had to book early (1 year out) to get my venue (which was booked for this year by the end of last October). So it all depends on how flexible you are. If you’re flexible with your date and venue/vendors, you absolutely can!
More planning time just means more time to be stressed out about wedding crap IMO.

3 and a half weeks for us.
(Not that it is a competition, of course)
I’m sure you’ll have a great day, OP.

We were engaged on Dec 9, 2012 and married on April 27, 2013 – 4.5 months.
I was lucky though, I did not plan much of it. Mother-In-Law planned and financed 90% of it.
