I thinks it depends on teh Venue. My venue will set up all tables, chairs, linens, placesettings and have the chairs on the back lawn for the ceremony then during ccktail hour they will transition the back lawn and moe the chairs inside and set up a few tables for thoe who wish to sit outside but this is all included in the price of my venue.

If you are renting chairs for the ceremony only most of the time the rental company will do this for you.

seeker:  Read your contracts.  If none of them mention set up, contact the most likely people (your venue and caterer) and see if they offer set up.   They might not, and you will either need a DOC or to do it yourself.

My venue did tables, chairs, linnens, glasses, and silverwear, as they are all their items.  But decorations where on us as we were providing them.

This is a question you should be asking your venue as every venue is different.

It depends.  You would have to ask if your venue does this or not since they are providing you with it.  And if they do … make sure there aren’t any hidden costs associated with it.

My venue is providing chairs and necessary tables and their partner chair decor is providing me with the covers and sashes but it’s included in with the price so I knew that I won’t have to pay extra for all that but they won’t set up any of the additional decor like setting up placecards, favours and all that.  I hired my decorator to do all that since she’s doing my backdrop and decor for the cake and head table.

So don’t be afraid to ask.  Ask as much as you can.  Since it’s your day and your costs, you have a right to be asking for every detail as much as possible.

You need to ask your venue and not us. My venue set up everything and cleaned everything and packed our stuff up.

seeker:  The title of your thread asks who sets up the ceremony but in your post your talking about caterers and such so it’s a little confusing.

Anyway, my Mom and Aunt set up my ceremony decor while we were getting ready. But, it was in a beautiful chapel that didn’t need much decor to enahnce it. Literally all we did was put flower arrangements on the end of every second pew and two alter arrangements on the mantle behind. I think it took them 10 minutes.

My entire faimly and FI’s family helped set up the reception the day before the wedding. It took us all about three or four hours in total, with everyone being assigned different jobs.
