So here’s my dilemma. I’m on a very tight wedding budget, and I definitely cannot afford to pay $500 or more for a wedding cake.
My mom told me she’ll make the cake for free….
Well, my FI and I had told her she must make a sample cake for us to decide to let her make our cake (which will be 2-tiered (only for us) with 50+ cupcakes (for the guests) )
So I keep asking her when she is going to make this sample cake, then she tells me I have to buy the ingredients…
She’s making my Aunt a birthday cake this Friday, which will be a sample cake for us to decide upon…then she texts me today to help her buy the ingredients to make the cake because she’s broke…
I’m really afraid my mom will end up being broke around my wedding day (she’s always broke) and won’t be able to make my cake. I don’t necessarily have the extra money to be helping her on my cake…
I’m also afraid she’ll burn it, because she is very forgetful with what is cooking in the kitchen….
Is there a possibility I could buy a cake and cupcakes for less than $200? The only con with that is I don’t wanna hurt my mom’s feelings in not letting her make the cake (or the chance to anyway).
Should I let my mom make my cake and take a risk in maybe not getting a cake or getting a subpar cake, or should I buy one and risk going overbudget and hurting feelings?
