My FI recently added another guy to his list of GM, which I am completely happy with (mostly because now we'll have four girls and four guys, so our pictures will be more symmetrical!). But here's my dilemma:

I was just in a wedding for a girl I've known 10+ years (Andrea), but the girl I want to be my bridesmaid (Meghan), well, we've only known each other for about two or three years. Meghan and I seem to just click on a bunch of things lately, but I'm afraid of hurting Andrea's feeling, especially since i was just in her wedding this past weekend. Meghan, Andrea and I are all pretty close— friendship-wise.

Should I just bit the bullet and go with Meghan, or pick Andrea because we've known each other longer?

I think if it were me, I'd choose Andrea since you've known her much longer.  I'm sure you don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but imagine the thoughts going in her mind if you chose Megham who you've just met 2-3 years ago as opposed to someone who's known you for a decade.  If you say that they are both close friends of yours, this is what I would suggest you do.

Perhaps Meghan can have another part in your wedding.  There are tons of things she can do as an "honorary bm."  :)

Ask them both. Symmetry is overrated.

I would choose Andrea as well. You've known her longer and although Meghan won't be in the wedding she'll still be able to help you celebrate your big day. Would you consider asking them both? I know the pics won't be symmetrical and numbers won't be even but if you are debating who you should pick than maybe that means they are both special enough you could include them both.

Pick them both. =) You were going to have an asymmetrical wedding anyways, so does it really matter?

If you absolutely HAVE to pick one or the other, pick Andrea (you've known her longer AND you were a bridesmaid for her), and definitely ask Meghan to do a reading, invite her to the shower/bachelorette party, etc.
