@Mashiara: If their catering is anything like their prepared foods section, then I think you hit the jackpot! Their food is awesome!!
I find their prepared food pretty bland. It is fresh, but kind of lacks flavour.
I don't know if you have one close to you but I got my catering from Hy-Vee and much to my suprise it was really really GREAT! Better than any of the caterers that we sampled. All their stores have chefs in them now. I wrote a review of them here.
I'll have to check out Hy-Vee! I live in Texas...I'll have to see if we have any.
I've eaten from their deli before, and I really enjoyed it! Plus, their h'ors douvres are exactly what I was looking for, and reasonably priced! I imagine there is some way for me to sample whats going on before committing...
Plus, my whole family is from Canada, where the cuisine is (notably) pretty bland/hippie. No cajun powder or hot sauce for us, no ma'am!
@Mashiara: Both Whole Foods and Hy-Vee will let you sample, I have talked to Whole Foods here for other parties but didn't end up using them.
Yum. I love Whole Foods prepared food section. The fam hits it up sometimes for dinner when we can't decide on Mexican, Asian, BBQ, etc. Love it.
@Mashiara: I was just going to edit that and explain it, lol, sorry. A friends mom stepped in and offered to do all the food. I thought their food was ok, not exactly what I was looking for anyway. Sometimes, IMO, they go a bit overboard with the foofoos in the food (they seem to really like cranberries) but I was looking at salads and sandwiches, not their apps. Those could be really good, I have never tried them and I don't know if they go off of their menus.
I don't know.. One of my best friends in the whole world, though, actually is one of the caterers at a Whole Foods in NC, and I think she'd probably do a fantastic job.. sorry, I know that's not here in TX! We're doing a BBQ rehearsal dinner too, but we're probably having Rudy's cater it! Yumm, brisket. :)
P.S. if you check out Rudy's, they literally give you everything you could ever need for $8.50 a person..like ice, tea, plates, serving utensils, Rudy's "sause", the BBQ and sides, everything.. We're going with them because frankly, I don't want to have to worry about anything but picking up some sodas! :)

I am ECSTATIC to find out last night that Whole Foods caters...and it looks amazing! Did I mention its DIRT CHEAP? I'm imagining this for my rehearsal dinner, not the Real Deal. I know barbecue is popular for this event, and Whole Foods sells barbecue pans with bread, pickles, onions and barbecue sauce for (I calculated) 5-6 dollars a person! Is this too good to be true?
Have any of you Bees had experiences with their prepared food?
