I don’t know where you’re located, but if they’re in season locally for your wedding, you might want to find a local grower. Farmer’s markets can be a good place to look. From what I hear, dahlias are pretty hardy as cut flowers as long as they are in water, so I can see how they might not do well being shipped. I’m waiting to hear if the farm I’d like to get flowers from expects to have dahlias around my wedding, they’re really lovely flowers!

I second Tank Girl’s suggestion to try to find a local grower for dahlia’s. Bypass the middle man and you can save a lot of money, not to mention get a really high quality flower too.

Small update to this- the farmer I’m in touch with does expect to have dahlias this September, and I was at my local farmer’s market over the weekend and was already seeing some in bouquets for sale. And they were flipping gorgeous. The farmer I’m buying from is charging $50/bucket for dahlias, and while I’m not entirely sure how many stems that is, I think it’s a pretty good deal! Good luck to you in finding your dahlias!

@TankGirl:

Where are you located? I’m getting married next September and am on the hunt for dahlias for a trial run in a couple months. Any advice is super appreciated! Thanks
