I don't remember my post count before becoming a bee -- I know it was under 1,000 (whoa, that's crazy to admit to given my current number), but I was pretty active posting blog comments. Can't wait to meet the newest bees that'll take us through summer 2010!
carbongirl - 3.5 months away is not too late -- you can def still apply!
I applied twice in quick succession over the summer. I might have tried again, but my wedding is in December and it didn't seem like -- if the 3rd time was a charm -- that there would really be long enough to blog for real before the wedding. It is probably just as well, though. I think I am more cynical than a lot of the bloggers. Also, I don't actually love planning my wedding. I find negotiating it all so stressful (especially the family). I am INTERESTED in wedding planning, which is why I am on weddingbee all the time, but it is only sometimes that I seriously enjoy it. My dirty little secret!
I'd love to apply, but can't manage to keep an active blog... blogging sites are mostly unavailable where I live :(
what are the policies for applying?
I applied when I was planning, but didn't make the cut. That's fine. I still love trying to help other members now that I'm past the wedding mark and it's fun to read the re caps of the bees I followed religiously.
I might...I don't know. FI asks all the time if I'm going to. I know I would have to seriously beef up my blog first. I love writing but I have a serious complex about other people reading my writing. Weird, I know. For now, I love reading about all the Bee's weddings and of course participating on here :)
So yeah, I'm finishing up my application now and uploading more stuff. I'm hella nervous.
(Or am I supposed to be super confident? :p )
I'm a total, die-hard WannaBee. I can't wait to apply! I'm totally pumped about a sea creature generation. Good luck and much love to the current applying Bees! Can't wait to catch the new group :)
@fiftyfootbride- GOGOGOGOGOGO!! Good luck!
I don't remember how many posts I had before becoming a bee, but I was a member for about 2 months prior to my acceptance. before that, I was just a 'troll', but had been reading for maybe a year.
@fifty: i'd LOVE IT if you were a bee because well, you're insane and i love ya!! lmbo!! i crack up reading your posts so i'm sure i'd be in tears reading your blog... i mean shoot is there any way that we can vote ya on?
You're TOO sweet!!! I'm glad you don't get annoyed by my ramblin' ways. :p
Lol. I have no idea about non-bee-panel voting. I doubt that exists. :p
Edit: I just finished my application. Oh good gracious.
WOOHOO!! remember if at first you don't succeed try try again (okay i have no idea about all of the fairy tale allusions i keep making)
lol. you need to just get out an inspirational quotes book and start going down the line!
here's one:
"shoot for the moon. even if you miss, you'll land among the stars."
your turn again! :p lol
@50 - I too hope you make it. I don't know what rambling you're talking about; I love your posts!
Um... hi. I started the whole thread and while I was at work, I realized I never answered my own question! I'd *like* to apply but the nature of boy's job (he's a minister with aspirations towards his PHD starting next fall in high profile ethics) might make him hestitant to be on board. We'll have to talk about it. Also, BUMP! Plus we're not even engaged yet, so I might be jumping the gun a bit (SOON! January)
i also vote for fiftyfootbride. she's been on every thread i've ever seen! and always sooo positive!
maybe we'll have a hive chosen Bee!
lol KMSull! I think it would be refreshing to get your point of view on everything. The blog could reach a lot of people in and out of the faith and it may be a great new way to do ministry and to show younger people that you don't have to be stuffy to be a preacher's wife :D.... (okay not that all preacher's wife are stuffy but um yeah i am a pk kid so i can sooo go there :P)
@crebre80 awww thanks for the support! Like I said, I'd LOVE to do it and I almost asked him about it tonight, but I thought to myself "no, too soon. Wax on, wax off. Wait until you've already put together your application". He doesn't have the desire to be in ministry full-time but he'll always be involved in some way!
I see that you're in Baton Rouge! One of his closest friends at seminary just moved there to work at a DOC (Disciples of Christ) church there! I miss her alot, cause she was my favorite.
I would love to apply but I don't think I'm too interesting. I'm definitely young bride from the midwest who is moving out of state, (hopefully) getting my first real job, and getting married all within 9 months.
I applied twice and never got accepted. I was going to apply a third time but it was 6 weeks before my wedding at that point and I just got too busy. I read weddingbee avidly for many months before I applied the first time, and I commented a lot. However, I never signed in when I commented so perhaps that was a mistake. After I decided not to apply for the third time I really started commenting a lot on the boards and sharing my projects with all of you. The boards are probably almost as satisfying as being a bee. Although I wish I still could have been a bee - I think they made a big mistake not accepting me! I'm sure all the rejectees think that though!
It's really comforting to hear that some of the current Bees weren't avid commenters before they were Bees. I love this site so much but feel like such a retard in all my comments :-/ lol I won't state the status of my application process b/c I don't want to jinx anything but as I think is the case with everyone in this community, it would be a dream come true to be a Bee.
I've been really trying to focus on my personal wedding blog... and I'd love feedback :)
@mismikado: i just went to your blog LOVE IT!! and i'm subscribed!!
@kmsull: definitely let me know if you're headed down this way for a visit!! maybe we could go to lunch or dinner or something! that would be freaking awesome!! i know there are louisianians on the board but i think i'm the most frequent poster... btw i was in a secret competition yesterday with you.. i mean you had like 102 posts or something like that... i went nuts trying to match it because I was number two (yes i'm compulsive and competitive like that lol!!!) you are such a sweetie that i think you'd do great on the board!!
I really want to be a BEE! My wedding is in July 2010.. does anyone know when you have to apply for that month? I know right now it's through June, I believe.
I would love too but I don't think I am going to. Don't think I am that talented. Oh well. I am completely for fiftyfoot as a Bee! :D
@leahnheath: I'm not sure what the deadline is for this crop o'bees but I know it's not in my timeline yet as ours will be end of July or beginning of August. Another real possibility (will depend on our venue) will be Labor Day weekend 2010! I know it's outside the deadline for this one though. We may be in the next crop coming up after this one though.
Email Mr. or Mrs. Bee and ask them or Pengy! They'll def bee in the know on that one.
I'm really happy about my blog thus far! It made the blogroll on Intimate Weddings' site along with some of the ones I surf regularly like Snippet N Ink! I was kinda happy 'bout that one! I just like blogging and use it as a journal basically and to bounce ideas off other brides and bring info to the encores out there who don't get that much, unfortunately. I'm doing a bit of research right now on issues facing Encore brides and will unveil that piece in a while once I finish gathering info.
I'm always on the fence on this and teeter totter all the time. The biggest thing stopping me right now is the fact that we oh still don't have a venue!!! Don't know if WB would like following a bride in her trial and tribulations of finding a venue???
And I'm still too far ahead even though we all know via A Bee's Life that it's ok to apply in advance. :) But w/o a venue I'm sure I'll be ask to reapply at a later date and I don't take rejection well. :(
Gerbera: I think it'd be great to follow you in finding your venue! There are probably tons of brides in your shoes looking for the perfect expression of themselves and their fiance!!! But if you don't take rejection well, I dunno... I would just apply every time I could until I got a yes lol!!!
But um yeah since that tiny detail of a ring is quite elusive for me I cannot apply at all... I am hoping for a fall 2010 or spring 2011 wedding (preferably fall) outdoors with nature as my decor (that's today i am quite sure it will change tomorrow)
@gerbera: lol!! i didn't want you to like hurt yourself if you got rejected... i was like mmm-kay how do i say it's really no biggie!!
@50-I sooo hope you get to be a bee!! You're so awesome & you would add so much!!
@daydreamwanderer, KBsquared, Miss Yap, & pmerr- Thanks, you guys. <3
Part of me wishes I'd kept my mouth shut about applying though! I'm pretty sure I'll be rejected, at least first round. I know I probably sound like a moron with all of the nervous chatter. Oh well, as crebre said, try, try again. :p
a bippity bobbidy boo!!! but yes i think you should try as many times as you need to because there are probably lurkers who are applying as well, kwim jelly bean?
@fiftyfootbride: i'm rooting for you!!
i didn't apply to Bee for our wedding because I wasn't based in the US at that time, and i didn't know it was okay -- until I saw Miss Lightning and was so. so. so. BUMMED.
i wonder if a hometown reception party next year in CA counts for 'Beeing :(
I'm considering applying!! Not sure if I'll actually work up the courage to do so!
I loooove being on the boards though!
I'm one of those people who gets really excited about starting a blog and I post my first post, swearing that I'll post every day, and then that's as far as it goes. I logged into my blogger account the other day and realized that I had 4 different blogs each with one post.
I would be a bad bee.
For those of you who wanted feedback, I will be able to get to your blog faster if you e-mail me at writtenbliss (at) gmail (dot) com instead of PMing me. I guess I underestimated how many people would want feedback! :) Please be patient as I try to get to everyone. Thanks!
I would love love love to be a Bee. Right now, I don't blog too too often, but I figure it's no big deal. My wedding is in May 2011 so I have quite some time before I can even apply. But maybe one day :)!
