Sometimes it just makes your waiting a little bit easier knowing others have been together longer than you…and I’m curious….
How many bees can beat 9 years and 3 months!?
Edit: How long have you been together and how long have you been waiting?

Jeez I found 6 months excrutiating, 9+ years deserves a medal! and a BIG rock haha

@westcoast_girl: You may be the winner!
I’ve only been waiting about….9 months now, I think. So not too bad.

@westcoast_girl: I am married now, but the proposal came after 6.5 years of dating… and he never once hinted at the idea of proposing.. when I tried to drop hints, he brushed it aside like we were nowhere near ready yet. Then came out of left field and totally surprised me.
But truthfully, I didn’t even start thinking about it until probably 5 years into our relationship. I don’t understand the girls who have been together a few months and feel like “OMG Why hasn’t he proposed yet?!!?!” That’s just not something my brain can comprehend… I am glad that we had a lot of time to know each other before we took that step! 🙂

I know…..9 months? Try 9 YEARS!! haha though I’m glad we know we can beat anything together and our love will last.
I don’t think I’m the winner…I heard a few 10 years kicking around….
We’ve been together since I was 17 and he was 20… I’m turning 27 this month and getting VERY antsy!! Can you blame me?

It depends: are you counting from the time you started dating or from the time you two had a serious converstation about intentions of getting engaged/married? I feel that “waiting” starts when you have that important converstaions, not when you started dating IMO.

@westcoast_girl: If you meant how long waiting as in dating then 8 years! Though it doesn’t beat 9! LOL
I have also heard some 10s and even a 12 yr bee around here somewhere…
As far as waiting like since seriously considering engagement then about 9 months.

Very good point! I guess how long have you been together…. AND actively waiting.
9 years, 3 months together & waiting for 3 years I’d say…long time!
It’s going to happen “before this summer”.. so that’s a good sign… we’ve had lots of talks. I guess it’s just timing…his career is still uncertain, but he’s working and DOES have the ring funds ready.

Up until then it is just Dating… not Waiting.
Mr TTR & I dated for 7 Years by the time we were married. First 6 Years Marriage wasn`t on the table (as Encores neither of us were interested).
Then as our 6th Date-iversary (end of 2011) approached something IN ME CHANGED (lol, I being the bigger hold out previously).. and I told him my LIFE PLAN and how I wanted to be married by the end of 2012. He agreed.
Then I was truly waiting…
Like many guys he proposed in his own way, on his own timeline… on Vacation in April 2012 (sans-ring)
So I was a Waiting Woman for about 5 months in total.
And we were married as per the LIFE PLAN I had laid out 5 months earlier… infaat when he Proposed, he had a lot of Wedding things worked out in his head (his vision) and so the two of us got on the same page very quickly in that regard…
The Ring – Eloping just the 2 of us – Destination Beach Wedding – Caribbean Honeymoon etc.
NO REGRETS… Everything worked out as it should
Mind you, I do believe that women need to take care of their own LIFE needs and be very upfront with a guy if they plan to be a Married Woman someday
Too many stories here on WBee about Waiting Bees who haven
t shared LIFE PLANS... or are trying to change a Guy who clearly has said he isnt interested in marriage.
Those posts hurt me… cause I know inevitably they rarely turn out well in the long run.

- Wedding: August 2013 - Rocky Mountains USA
@ValerieBee03: @westcoast_girl: I’m a 12 year bee 🙂 We got engaged 12 years after we first got together. But we started dating as teenagers, were always really independent and didn’t want to get married until we were “grown up”, and I only really was “waiting” (although I didn’t know the term) for maybe a year. Hang in there!

Been with him since I was 19… He proposed on my 41st birthday! Lol Married on August 3rd, 2013.

22 years!!!!! WOW We may have a winner
You must have become an expert on answering “So where’s the ring? When are you two getting engaged???”

@lolot: Awe how sweet!! I know what you mean about the independancy thing…We both (now) have stable jobs and rent our own houses, pay our own bills, bought our own cars, and have been independent from our parents for YEARS and have never been financially dependent on each other.
We both wanted to finish school and have steady incomes before getting engaged/married 🙂

Very true 🙂 I think a lot of girls these days have unreal expectations or want to be engaged for all the wrong reasons.
You have to make sure your relationship can stand when things get tough…we’ve have many ups and downs and were able to work through everything.
Financially you have to be ready as well….like, who’s going to pay for this wedding?? In these years of waiting, it gave me tons of time to put together a budget, source how much everything will realistically cost, Pinterest the heck out of what I want for my wedding…so I’m sure I will feel ready when the time comes with minimal stress

I’ve already lost but I’ll play!
We’ve been together 3 years and 2 moths.
