I'm going to chop away! My hair is WICKED long right now (down to my boobs) so I'm ready.
I chopped mine! It's getting long again, so I'm still trying to decide what I want to do with it next.
Is your hair long or short now mrsleopard?
I have been growing out my hair since last April (however had it hacked once so got pretty short again) I hope to have it in the middle of my back by my wedding (it seems plausible!)
Right after the wedding I am chopping it off!!! Chin length or maybe shorter
(but also depends on if I have lost some weight because me, with short hair makes my face look like a balloon, soo round!
I'm chopping a nice set of bangs into my look! I like the length....down to my brastrap but it needs about 2" lopped off to be healthy for summer. I've had ONE trim since....May 2008. Thank goodness for deep conditioners.
ME!! (Raising hand enthusiastically) I can't wait to get rid of all of this hair.
I am. I am. I am and I cannot wait!! My hair is sometimes this curly mess so when it gets longer it is more difficult to manage, especially in the summer.
When you ladies all cut your hair, are any of you donating it to an organization like Locks of Love?
I was planning on donating to locks of love. i should have plenty for them to chop. I can't wait.
I could, but my hair is way too processed to donate. I once did about a 10" chop (below bra strap to about my ears)....oh, that was about 3 years ago!
Lillindy, thank you for the reminder. I have chopped my hair plenty of times but have always forgotten to do something good with it. I have saved the website as a favorite so I don't forget later on!
YES!!! I cannot wait! I'm doing the post wedding, pre-honeymoon chop! I'm not taking this hair with me for 2 weeks. I wish I could donate, but my hair's been dyed, so they won't take it :(
I wish I could donate my hair, however my hair is overly processed, not nice virgin hair!
I can't wait, I hope to go this weekend. My husband is going to whine for a bit but he'll get used to it. I wish I could donate my hair Lillindy, unfortunately I've had several treatments and stuff done to my hair. They prefer "virgin" hair.
If you look under "Donate Hair" it says:
GUIDELINES FOR ACCEPTABLE DONATIONS
Maybe it is an option. I will definately look into it. I'm thinking of Locks of Love which I believe only takes virgin hair, or did when my sis donated several years ago.
I did the PRE wedding chop 2 weeks ago and I am SOO happy. I was growing my hair out but had all sorts of bad razored layers and it just wasn't doing anything for me. I cut off about 4 inches, so it's in between my chin and shoulders, and I LOVE IT. I am soo glad I didn't have to wait another 4 months to chop!!
@ Lillindy - it's a few inches past my shoulders. the photo i posted was taken sunday.
i chopped it off to a shaggy pixie cut in '01 and it's taken that long to grow out and look healthy.
I got excited for a minute, but then checked the site. I had highlights and she did use bleach, so I can't give :(
I will donate as well! I did a few years ago but I didn't hear anything from them, so I might go to a different place. I just didn't know if they got it or used it or what. I have really thick, red, long, hair that's never been dyed so it's perfect, so I hope it got used!
@MoSnow - I have really thick long red hair too and I'm really hoping when I donate it this fall that it goes to someone special!
I actually decided yesterday that my hair has grown longer than I need it to be for my July wedding so I'm going for a trim next week. I measured and it's like 4" below my bra strap and I don't think my hair has been this long since I was 10 years old!
Well Im letting mine grow. It was super short. But I think I will cut it after the wedding.
I am getting a cut as soon as we get back from our honeymoon. I can't wait! I always get excited for haircuts and it's been nearly a year!
I am totally chopping it back to its shoulder length normality after the wedding. I have a year of growing with only trims in between... but I dont have to grow it that much longer to fix it how i want it!!! YAY!!!
I'm donating my hair to Locks of Love once the wedding is over. I have also convinced my Maid of Honor to do the same.
I usually donate it every two years so I can't wait to do it again.
I'm not. :)
Technically I had a pre wedding chop, because my hair was too long. (past the boobs) Once it gets that long it loses a lot of body. So I went in to have it cut to a healthy length and the lady got all happy with it and cut off like 8 inches. (wtf!) So currently I'm growing it out a little bit before the wedding. Go figure lol. :)
Totally am. And I'm tempted to cut off it before the wedding because some people have made my hair into a big deal. If it's this much stress over my hair (again, not me that cares this much) I might be bold and cut it to the style I love.
If it stays long, my aunt (a professional) will cut it the next morning and we'll be off on our honeymoon! :)
Oh, and I plan to donate it. It's naturally red and I think it'd be great for someone who lost their red hair.
I have a while till my wedding date ( 11/11/11), but will def be chopping it off soon! I'm going to try a darker color befor i cut it to see if i like, if not its oki!!
:)
Hell yes! I have been growing mine out since 2005 since really chopping it off in nursing school...you all remember 90210 days when Kelly went above the ear short? That was me! ICK! But my hair is so fine and thin it never really looks good longer than collar bone length and I am so sick of doing it whether straightening or whatever it is getting so destroyed that I am going to do a long bob. I cant wait and my FI is excited because he actually likes it that length! Wow a guy likes shorter hair? Now it was that way when he met me but I think its also he is tired of hearing me whine whenever I have to do my hair. So yes cut away! I cant wait especially with my wedding in July I hate how hot and muggy it gets and hair is so untolerable then!
I can't wait to cut my hair and re-cut bangs! My hair is getting so long and mangey I hate it! But, I need to keep growing the bangs so I don't have awkward lenghts for my low-do for my wedding.
I am! I was actually going to get it cut a couple months ago (not long before we got engaged) and one of my friends said, with a look of horror, "You're going to cut it short before your wedding?"....I hadn't even thought about that :-P. So I guess it'll stay long until then, or at least until I decide what I want to do with it for the wedding. But I'm annoyed with how long it's getting, so I'll probably cut it soon afterwards. I'm not looking forward to going through the whole summer with long hair, though :-P
I don't think I will. I cut over a foot off my hair a few years ago. It was down to my waist and I really miss it. I have been trying to grow it out ever since and and as of now its a little past my bra strap. It is funny how other people think that is long because I think it's still medium length! lol.
Our wedding is a year way so I hope it grows another 5 inches or so by then.
My FH loves long hair too and always tells me how he can't wait for it to get even longer so that makes me really happy that he loves it long like I do.
Low-do, I like that! I'm going to steal that phrase...i'm tired of explaining to people taht my "updo" is really not what it sounds like...i feel like i need to tote a picture around in my purse all day to show people =]
For you girls looking to donate their hair to Locks of Love, do your homework. They have some shady practices and have only created a handful of wigs for children in their several years of existence. They sell most of their donations to other companies who make wigs (all the "unfit" hair--bleached etc). The BBB has labeled the charity substandard. Also, it's gimick is to donate your hair to cancer patients, especially children donating to make other children feel better during cancer treatments. The request form for a wig stipulates "permanent" hair loss, which hair loss from chemo is "temporary."
I was thinking of donating my halr post-wedding to them, as I had before several years ago. This time I was thinking of Pantene's Beautiful Lengths program instead.
Lol, I didn't realize so many other brides were planning to chop-post-wedding. I was ready to chop mine off right around the time he proposed but then I didn't want it to be short for the wedding. Needless to say, I can't wait to lose some of this lenght!

Just curious how many ladies plan on chopping their hair off after the wedding.
I finally got mine at the length I want it at but I'm thinking of doing some heavy bangs.
