I'm sorry, I just HAVE to ask! Is this a new store? Please tell me it is!
The only dump I've ever been too was the actual "dump" like where they dump all of the trash. I went with my step dad to take some green waste and I threw up it smelled so bad.
What is this dump you speak of? This sounds simultaneously awesome and scary.
Why Scissors what a good place it is! This dump I speak of (and will probably speak more of) is a brand new furniture store which carries some of the best designer brands from 30-70% off!
It just opened in ATL and there are a few other stores nationwide, including Phoenix which just opened too. Only open on weekends though. Bummer about that.
It's awesome and in no way scary at all. Unless you find discounts frightening! lol! My coworker in another department who's a newlywed went there and found the most beautiful bedroom suite there! For a sweet price too! Scissors you should check it out!
Just another place here in ATL for me to get in trouble at . Especially since at T's house there is only the bachelor basics..in a huge house he has a really nice bed, big screen tv in the keeping room, two nice sofas (leather of course), and some family antiques. This girl has alot of shopping to do after the wedding! Getting furniture and doing quite a bit of interior design is going to be our immediate newlywed focus the week after the wedding! After he divorced about 3.5 years ago, he gave her most of the furniture b/c he said he didn't like it anyway.
So the dump is one of the places I'm going to frequent to find interesting chairs, possibly some new bedroom furniture along with a few other places to rid T's home of the "bachelor basics".
Wow that's so interesting! I wonder if they would deliver here? Once we get a new place, I want some nice new furniture!
I don't know, but with such a huge discounts, even if they don't deliver to your area, getting a u haul little trailer and bringing it back is even a good dealt to me! You gotta come over here and visit this place! My very very picky co worker who is like me with regard to buying interior furnishings raved about it.
I may go tomorrrow due to the rain coming in (too pretty today) and also hit a few stores.
For those ATL-gals, I think it's near the old disco kroger store!
That's true, it probably wouldn't cost too much to rent a trailer for a day or two.
And think of the fun you'd have! That we'd have (b/c you'd of course have to meet up with me too.)
It's gonna be so fun having an even bigger project than the wedding to focus on after the wedding to get rid of the post-bridal-blues yanno?
I love projects! We'll be moved into the house, married, enjoying the rest of the summer, and the only thing to do is to decorate the house, organize wedding pics and have a blast decorating!
Literally..his house is a blank slate. Looks like somebody moved in the day before.
A few months before we began dating, his kids asked him if he could put the trampoline in the formal living room (huge, 2 story ceiling). He did. I kid you not! Once he got a package from the postman and the guy was at his front door and looked thru the foyer to the formal room and saw the trampoline, a bachelor with a sportscar, and a nice house and said "niiiiice. have fun dude". I'm sure he was thinking of the "man show" that used to come on tv.
Can't wait for that adventure to begin where he actually has a house with stuff to sit on besides the sofas in the room with the big tv.
Man. I was with Bella13!!! I thought it was the actualy dump. lol. Too bad I'm not over there so I can look!
i LOOOVE the dump. we had one in richmond where i grew up - you can get unbelievable deals on stuff. people from around in the area would litereally show up with uhauls and haul it away.
Oooh that is awesome Spaganya! See Miss ASB? They do show up w/Uhauls! yay!!!!!
We have one here too, I always forget about it on weekends and on weekdays when I remember they're closed! lol
I have heard about it but havent been yet.. next weekend mom and I were going to go check it out!!
When I lived in PA, there was a dump there but I never went. Hopefully, me and DH will be moving back home in a few years and I'll hopefully remember to go there.
Thanks for explaining what it was, I always knew of the store but never knew what it actually sold.
Has anyone tried that DirectBuy thing? Does that have better prices?
I had never even heard of this. Thanks for the heads up Belle! We have about 4 sticks of furniture in our house, and it is definitely time to add some more. :)
@yrret: I have heard really horrible things about Direct Buy. Just google them and look at the complaint sites.
Oooh, there is one in Dallas & Houston! I may have to make a road trip!
I have never heard of this place! It sounds AMAZING! I'll have to check it out :)
@MissAsb
Thanks for the heads up about Direct Buy. I went to one timeshare presentation a few months agao and never again will I go to one of those.
Boooooo! The closest ones to our new home are in PA and NJ. That stinks! I'll have to check it out when I go home, though!
Oooh. Mitchell Gold, perhaps? Is favorite, and we need a new MG slipcover.
I've been to several. It isn't as great as you think. The prices are still pretty high (which you wouldn't think by their ads) but they don't always have more than one of an item (like if you're looking for matching chairs). Its OK,but I wouldn't make a special trip to go to one.
Went this afternoon. Some nice bedrooms and some good desk/entertainment center things, and some nice entertainment groupings, but as far as specific prices go, I'd have to compare.
It's nice, but not end all of end all's I'd imagined it to be. But you could def find some good deals hidden in there. I wasn't as impressed w/the collection of sofas. Some were either too modern for me or were a bit too glitzy/over the top. Just weren't my taste.
I do think I might've found a nice bedroom suite for my soon to be stepdaughter though. So cute!
So sad that things are never as great as you expect them to be!
Yea I know..but there are some good finds there. Overall though, the style isn't mine. I'm a person who likes the look of antiques and a few unusual pieces thrown in.
I def could find some things there but can see it is a hit or miss. Some nice traditional bedrooms there though. Nice mattresses too. Nice little pieces here and there. I found a cool desk that looks antique my son loves.
I have to agree with PP.
I went a couple of weeks ago hoping to find REALLY good deals and it seemed like the pricing was the same as any other furniture store having a sale.
I have to say that I am not a fan of this place. The majority of the furniture is quite ornate and we didn't really think the prices were anything to jump for joy over.
Hope I didn't rain on the parade. Just sayin'.

My hand goes up and is waving around!!!
Am I the only person who is super duper excited this place is opening? Wow. I have a coworker who went there last weekend and bought a beautiful (and I mean beautiful) bedroom suite. Best part was the tag.
It's like a newlywed or engaged person's nirvana there! Anybody been already? Give me the dish on the dump!
