I’ve never seen the film because I can’t stand Patrick Swayze. But… I did see the musical last night at London’s Picadilly theatre and I loved it!
It’s tender and intimate, yet bold and upbeat in places. It’s funny and sad all mixed into one. And the illusions are amazing – pepper’s ghost galore! The set is really intuitive, the video wall is LED pixels but for the most part this works well. And there’s tap dancing…!
Just had to share! This is going to run and run…
Off to see Tim Minchin’s Matilda next month….

I haven’t seen the musical but thanks for the review. We’re hoping to go to London next month so it was nice to read something about it and we will go and see it!
I can’t believe you said you “can’t stand Patrick Swayze” *sob* I have never heard anyone say that lol!

@Wonderwoman217: Ha ha my point exactly! It’s like not liking Dirty Dancing!

I know, I know… I tried to like him… but he bugs me… just can’t put my finger on it…
Another good’un is Billy Elliot. Elton John, ballet and an amazing lighting design. What more’s to like?

They made Ghost into a musical?! – shakes head –

Having a hard time picturing it as a musical (which is what everything turns into anymore it seems like) but good to hear you liked it. Like the OP, I can’t get into Patrick Swayze either but to each their own. It is ok to not like an actor for one reason or another.

@ladyartichoke: I haven’t seen Ghost, but Father-In-Law just saw Matilda and said it was fantastic.
My sister is coming for Christmas and just got Darling Husband and I tickets to 1 Man 2 Govners when she’s here so I’m looking forward to that.
My mom is also trying to get us tickets to Matilda as a Christmas present but it looks to be sold out.
