Ooo! I am getting married 2 weekends after you and we're also having Matt Ramos!!!!!!! Once we saw his work we knew there was no other way to go. The Hall of Springs is GORGEOUS! Where are you from in the Capital Region?
It's so nice to meet another local bride!!! The hall of springs was the only place I looked but I know there are some other beautiful places around! I love looking at his blog and seeing the canfield casino- the inside is gorgeous! Where are you getting married? I'm from Clifton Park, what about you? Are you doing engagement photos with Matt? We're going to do our the end of September.
Unfortunately we're not doing engagement photos with Matt because, as I am sure you know, he is a bit pricey and we decided adding the engagement photo session wasn't in our budget. We have a friend who is an amateur photog and he is going to take some engagement pics for us. I really wish we could get them done with Matt though! I'm from Albany. It's cool to "meet" another local bride getting married around the same time as me!
Oops I forgot to say where we're getting married. We're actually getting married just past Bennington, VT because we have family property there. We're using a lot of local vendors though. Did you pick a DJ/band yet? We're going with Piano Man but we really like The New York Players for a band.
We are also using Matt Ramos! We are having engagement photos with him at the beginning of October. LOVE his work. Hands down the best decision I made!! (I booked him before the venue!)
Future Spice- I love VT! It'll be so pretty there in September. We weren't originally going to do engagement photos..it came with the package we chose because we needed him for a longer amount of time but I was going to just get more albums instead. After looking at his blog all the time, I changed my mind. We're using Piano man also! Are you having a DJ and a band?
htrnkus- You're probably getting yours done right after us! We're doing them September 30th :) What are you going to wear and where are you doing yours? I still have no idea what to wear. Hopefully there will be some pretty fall colors then. There definitely will be in October! What venue are you using?
@Hillzie: Yes, we are getting ours done October 1st! No idea where yet... somewhere to take advantage of the fall foliage, maybe a park or an apple orchard?
Not sure what I'm going to wear, something comfortable since I don't want to be too restricted! Matt's engagement photos always seem to focus on the couple having fun, and being relaxed and being themselves. How about you? Where are you guys planning to have photos taken?
Our venue is River Stone Manor in Scotia.
Oh gosh, you guys are making me want to have Matt do our e-photos!
@Hillzie: We chose to go with an album upgrade instead of the e-pics since we knew we had a friend who would take some pics for free (for his portfolio.) Wow, I can't believe we're using two of the same vendors! Do you know who your Piano Man "entertainer" is going to be? Ours is Kyle. We're not having a DJ and a band, we really wanted The New York Players but it didn't work with our budget, so we went with Piano Man.
@htrnkus: I absolutely LOVE the idea of doing e-photos in an apple orchard!! Those would be adorable. Hmmm...I may have to talk to FI about the possibility of shelling out the extra $200 for e-pics with Matt. I love stalking his blog and imagining how my wedding pics will look! Oh, and I totally booked him before I book my venue also, haha.
@FutureSpice: I'm sure your engagement pics will come out great from your friend! I am really only using them for the save the dates. If I wasn't sending save the dates, or if I had a picture of him proposing to use for the save the dates, I would probably have not gotten them. But I decided a couple months ago to add them to the package and still get the extra albums. I stalk his blog every day! we're having Adam Conway as our DJ from the Piano Man. I'm currently living in NYC for a year so my mom booked him for me and met with them. I was just looking at their lighting packages tonight. They seem great and a lot of my friends have used them.
@htrnkus: That's a great idea to do it in an apple orchard! I have no idea where we're going to do ours. I remember he said he usually does it in the area where the wedding will be so maybe somewhere in Saratoga. Maybe he'll go them in the park. So funny you're getting yours done the day after us!! Matt just posted pics in his blog of the River Stone Manor! It looks like a great location and very nice!
We are going with Sawicki Studios in Amsterdam, NY. Their work is gorgeous! I am so excited that they will be shooting our wedding. Our engagement pictures are scheduled for a couple of weeks also, which was included in the price.

We are using Colleen's Photography http://www.colleensphotography.com/ She came highly recommended by our venue, and my parents met with her and said she was a blast! Can't wait!

Hi! I'm new to this board and just found the local one :) I'm getting married in September at the Hall of Springs. I am having Matt Ramos as my photographer. His work is amazing & blew my away! I was wondering who everyone else chose?
