I went on a Norwegian cruise to Bermuda this past summer, also my first cruise. i loved it!!!

Bermuda-

check out the cruise’s excursions. Many to do don’t involve the beach. We did one to the beach and one bike riding along the coast. The bike one got cancelled for rain, but point being, there are non beach options. The beaches there are absolutely beautiful though with super super clear water

The ship docks in the royal naval dockyard which is right beside a little mall, that’s in an old clocktower. Definitely not a big mall, but still nice. There’s a courtyard feel to the area, can walk around the old dockyard, yogurt shop (with wifi), and chickens running around! Not big enough to spend an entire day there.

Money isn’t an issue bc they take American money. They use US dollars and bermuda dollars interchangeably.

You can take a ferry right from the dockyard to Hamilton, which is the Capitol, and has a lot of shopping And sightseeing. It’s a few dollars, but definitely too far to walk. There is a huge bulletin board with the ferry schedule.

Its a beautiful small country. 20 miles long and 1 mile widE. Can see the ocean from everywhere.

There are scooters to rent , but I wouldn’t. They drive like nuts.

The cruise-

norwegian is nice and friendly and well organized. lots of food, room service, lots to do  I was on the breakaway, and each ship has little things that are different  Which ship are you on? I had never been on one and was very happy. From the organization at docking, to the room, the employees, the 24 hours of good food, the shows, the pool, the deck, there was plenty to do and it was very relaxing. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!!

We did the Catamaran Snorkel and Swim with Turtles!

It was really fun! Though the rum punch is free, and we wound up WASTED at like 2pm. So… WHen they say “strong”, they mean it!

Downtown Hamilton. The Capitol. Where you can take a ferry to. All the buildings are lovely pastel colors. Restaurants. And a post office of you want to mail any postcards. Though it will take forever to get back home

We went to Bermuda for our third anniversary, and it was gorgeous, amazing, and just so beautiful! We flew (only two hours from NYC) but the cruises seem nice too.

We stayed in Paget to be centrally located, and took the bus for most of our travel. The local bus was easy to figure out because there are only two lines-away from town, and toward town. We rented a scooter but it was too scary for me. Tourists cannot rent cars.

Hamilton was pretty with nice shopping, the beaches are gorgeous (even just to look at) and the food we had was great. It’s pricey, comparable to major cities, but easy and beautiful. You basically don’t have to remember anything except left side driving. It was very safe there, and people were very friendly. So clean!!!

@BrandNewBride:  I wanted to do the learn to scuba one but it was full!

OP, the Norwegian ships all have a restaurant called Teppanyaki that I recommend. Japanese steakhouse where they cook right in front of you.

@Anonymous1063:  Why did you guys choose a Caribbean/cruise trip if you arent fans of the beach? Not trying to be snarky, just curious and confused. A lake or mountain trip wasn’t appealing?

I second the comment that it was very clean!! Especially compared to NYC where our cruise left from.

It was too cold to swim when we were there, but wrapping up and sitting on the beach was awesome. Wear sunscreen if you’re outside!
