Why am I limited on the amount of gift cards that I am able to use?

I have received a lot of gift cards and I wanted to use it to purchase luggage for our honeymoon. I went online to place the order and I could only use 2 cards at a time (Bed Bath and Beyond). This happened to me at Kohls too (their limit was 4). Why is there a limit? The lugguage that we want is an online exclusive so we can't purchase it in the store.

I would call the store(s) customer service department. They might be able to override the system, so that you can use all of your gift cards at one time. You would have to ask each individual store why they have limits on how many gift cards you can use at one time.

I would call up the customer service and order through them. I know I've paid with more than 2 gift cards in store before (lots of Target GC after high school graduation), they probably just limit it on the online checkout form.

We had A LOT of gift cards at one store. I had them transfer the full amount to one card. I can just never ever lose that card.

I pretty sure that with BB&B you can go to the store and have customer service order it for you (even if it's online exclusive), that way you can use all your cards.

I did the same thing as bakerella.  I went to each store and had them amalgamate all my cards onto one.

I think it has something to do with theft policies- like if you use a million gift cards online, you could have somehow stolen a million of them, and are trying to cash them in.  I guarentee if you call and explain the situation, there is an overide or a solution...  They probably have the online system set to a default to protect themselves... Good luck though- I can only imagine how frustrating that is!

You can go into a BB&B and they can order their online items for you there and you can then used their 20% off coupons too.

I went to BBB and they transfered them all to one card. Kohls wouldn't transfer it for us and I was told that their system doesn't allow for them to override it.

    Thanks bees!

@trugem: I'm suprised that Kohl's is the hard one to deal with on that, with all their commercials saying how 'awesome' their policies are!

@MissAsB: They had me sooooo hot! When I tried to order with a rep. I gave him my gift card numbers. Then we realized that we couldn't override it (and let me use more than 4). Next, we told him to cancel. We went online to check the balance of the gift cards and two of them had a 0 balance. I had to wait over two hours to talk to another rep to have it put back on my card.

I'm glad that BBB worked with us.

@trugem: Oh that's the worst!  I can't believe he didn't take it off the cards right away.  I don't think they are as great as they think they are!
