… Honestly? haha.
So, I am a very logical person, budget-oriented (which is good because my budget is pretty small and all accounted for)… yet I can’t get the ceremony chairs out of my head. Early on FH and I decided that our wedding was going to be a casual park event. I even said, multiple times, there is no way I am spending $400 on chair rental when we have perfectly good chairs already — that is 5% of our budget!
So now here we are… and I’m just like.. but chairs! haha. Now, let me say, to all of you who HAVE decided to go with the pretty chair rental, I don’t blame you! If i had twice the budget or didn’t have everything accounted for already, I might swing it. At this point though, if I can find an extra $400 in my budget I would find a videographer somehow. Also, if we had a real wedding venue (versus a park pavilion) I would also put more priority on chairs, as the ones I have may not fit the look+feel of the venue.
So… to those of us who didn’t splurge for the pretty chairs… do you regret it? I mean, they’re only chairs…

andi_isit303: Step back from it for a bit? We are using the standard chairs they provide at our venue, without a chair cover, sash, nada. *Gasp* We’re using them as-is. Why? Because people’s butts are going to be in them for most of the ceremony and dinner and once everyone is up on the dance floor I won’t give a hoot what the chairs look like! I thought about it and realized we’d be paying all that money for a few photos of chairs, realistically. So I put the money for chair covers/rentals into another area of the budget that was more important to us.
Do I love the look of chivari chairs? Of course. They make for a beautiful photo/venue and they scream ‘wedding’. And if I had an unlimited budget I would rent them. But it turns out they were way down on the list of importance to me, so they aren’t happening.
I think you have to decide, is the rental cost worth what you’ll get. Are they a big part of your ‘vision’ for the day? Or could you get by with other chairs just fine?

andi_isit303: I don’t regret it. They’re just chairs. Do you remember what the chairs looked like at the last wedding you attended?

Aquaria: haha wow! ok, so truth i’ve said that to many people countless times… but now when push comes to shove i’m like ahhh chairs. BUT! to your point, i went to one of my best friends wedding 3 weeks ago… 3 weeks!!! and literally cannot tell you what chairs she had. and i set the ceremony chairs up for her! lol.

Honestly until coming on Bee, I’d never even heard of someone caring about what chairs were at their wedding.
If you really want the snazzy pictures, I’m sure there’s a budget friendly alternative. Just rent two for your sweetheart table or a few for the back row of the ceremony or something. But seriously, I doubt it matters even one little bit. My personal choice is that I’m not going to lay down a bunch of cash for someone to just… sit on it.

What kind of chairs do you have?

Well, not to egg you on, but I was very concerned with how our chairs looked. LOL.
But, full disclosure, my venue only offers us chivari chairs, so it was a matter of color. I wanted more of a wood look, but wasn’t willing to spend the extra on renting mismatched vintage chairs, so we’re going with dark wood chivari chairs. Anything else just wouldn’t fit the aesthetic.
All that being said, I only remember the chairs at one wedding and that’s because she had gorgeous ghost chairs.

Rhopalocera: They’re plastic folding chairs. I think they are like, grey. Similiar to this link below:
So, not pretty at all.
I really should stop worrying about it tho, since I don’t have $ in the budget anyway! lol.
