so i have Laryngitis and post nasal drip caused by pregnancy rhinitis. Clearly there are limited meds i can take and to be honest im trying not to take anything medicated.
I read that gargling with salt water will help kill the bacteria at the back of the throat but there is a problem. I cant gargle. I have tried but i just gag or end up swallowing the salt water.
Is there a trick i can use to help me combat my gag reflexes or perhaps another natural method i can use to get rid of this thing before xmas.

If there is, I would like to know it as well. I tried to gargle this morning and I can’t do it either. I just spit it out!
For the nasal drip though, there is something called a neti pot that you may try using!

Some people just have a really sensitive gag reflex.
Have you ever noticed that when you throw up your eyes are shut?
Try focussing on keeping your eyes open.
A surgeon taught me this trick to tell people when they are having an N/G tube inserted.

I have trouble gargling as well, mostly because I have a horrible gag reflex.
To get around this, I put the mouthwash/salt water in my mouth, tilt my head back, let it sit in my throat for a few seconds and TRY to “gargle” as long as possible before I feel the gag reflex kick in. As soon as I feel like I’m going to gag, I just spit it out.
Then I do it all over again 5-10 times. I don’t know how effective this is, but I sure as heck can NOT gargle for more than 5 or 10 seconds without gagging, so I just do it several times for a few seconds each.
