Well, for my bouquet I'm picking spider mums, lillies & roses because those are the flowers that my mom & my grandmothers carried down the aisle. I thought it would be nice to incorporate them all since they all had very happy marriages!
Mango callas as well for me! They just really went with the lines of my dress!
Other flowers were bright fall bouquets, and centerpieces were hollowed pumpkins filled with bright fall flowers.
I choose peonies to match the fluffy cloud-like tulle on my dress. I loved them.
I'm using all hydrangeas for my centerpieces for a full puffy look. A big reason I chose them is because they are very large and I'm doing the centerpieces myself. So the less flowers needed to complete a centerpiece the easier it will be for me and others helping me!
We had roses. My husband would always buy a rose for me, for special occasions or if I was sick, or just because, so I really wanted to have them in my wedding.
I LOVE those mango callas!!! They were one of the many flowers I used - I went with a variety of my favorite flowers in bright fall colors.
Yeah, I didn't really have too much care about callas until I walked into a florist fridge and saw the mangos and was like whoa, those are gorgeous. But poor florist who introduced me to them was too expensive so I basically decided to do DIY bouquets just so we could more reasonably afford them.
I'm jealous you got pumpkins erindesmar! I think I was talked out of it because I looooove pumpkins and they were afraid I'd go overboard with it. Once both my husband and friends said - you know you do pumpkins a lot at your house - I thought well pooh, I guess I already exhausted them with my pumpkin love.
When I started planning I loved the idea of just solid red rose bouquets. Then I thought about making the bouquet's and called my mom to talk about them. Saying that I found this flower Stephanotis that I just loved as a filler. She said both her and her mom carried those down the aisle, so that's how they got included. And about a month ago, my FH bought me a black calla lily, just because, and I fell in love with calla's so I'm having white calla's in the bouquets. But since Stephanotis and calla's are pretty expensive, they are just in my bouquet and his boutenier. The other girls will be having white button mums, which are adorable!
Roses and hydragenas were in season and simple (Dec wedding). I picked the color because they had a picture of my bridesmaids dresses (same color - dark green) with those types of roses (confetti yellow-red tips) and the contrast was really pretty.
I am incorporating gardenias into my bouquet because my mother's bouquet was made of gardenias. I cannot afford to do them anywhere else, but there will be eight in my bouquet (with tons of other flowers) and one in my mother's corsage.
I am also including garden roses because I looooove the look of them.
At this point (a little under a year out), I'm planning on Black-Eyed Beauty calla lilies for me and the FI, mango callas for parents, and football mums for everyone else.
I have really dark (almost black) brown eyes, so there's that in a nutshell. Like a lot of you other ladies, I wanted fall colors without being overly "OMG FALL" in a theme, and the mango callas are gorgeous. The same goes with the mums. Plus, they're big and fluffy, and their texture is great.
I picked my flowers 100% based on price :)
We used carnations & after seeing so many pictures of carnations bunched together I fell in love, they were affordable, fun to make, and I loved them!
Erin - you look gorgeous! Your dress is a similar shape to mine.
We chose blue and white hydrangeas because New England is where we met (FI is southern), where we live now and where we're getting married.
We're also using tulips because we've gone on two trips to Amsterdam together!
We chose black magic roses as our main flower. I loved the glam feel of roses and the black magic color is amazing for our Halloween wedding.
We're also doing burgundy dahlias, red ranunculus and red Freedom roses with black feathers.
I want to incorporate my mom's and my future mom's favorite flowers. My mom's favorite flowers are dahlias and future mom's ...don't know yet I haven't asked but I'm sure they'll be pretty.

Just wondering if anyone has a cute story as to why they chose a certain flower for their wedding day.
For us we had sunflowers. When my husband (then BF) and I got a puppy we would take him to a park at night so he could sprint around and get some energy out. There were these really tall sunflowers in one part and he would always go to them and just start sprinting around. He wouldn't trample them but just stay near them and when he was done lay down under them. While I had always felt very at home with my husband, our evenings with our new puppy by the sunflowers really made us feel like a family. It just felt right to have this be one of the flowers.
Mango callas - just because I freaking love the color and I was told no pumpkins at our fall wedding but I still wanted to get the pumpkin color in there.
