@Nona99:  You’re not alone, I am the queen of committing to things way too late in the game!

If you have a pretty good idea of how long it will take you to finish one of those things (For example: 20 hours total) break it up into how many days you have left and set aside that time for ONLY working on the cloak and nothing else. No distractions like TV or computer or what have you. (Example: 3 hours a day for the next 7 days) which can be A LOT if you already work full time.

And if I’m not mistaken you have a baby right? This is quite a task! Good luck to you!

@Nona99:  Wow, good on you, that’s so generous!  I’m sure you will get it done in time!

Your story reminded me of a couple years ago when literally 5 days before Christmas my DH (BF at the time) asked if I could crochet a blanket for his grandma for Christmas if he bought the wool, and I agreed.  That Christmas Eve I was literally up until 3am, then got up again at 6am the next morning to finish it.  She loved it though, so it was worth it!

@Nona99:  You are a saint. I started saying no to requests mid-November! (Especially to sister’s MIL who said “I need to put in an order for men’s gloves”. Um. I’m not Anazon, last I checked. oh. And I hate you, so no.)

@Nona99:  Usually this happens to me with baking… “Oh sure I can bake 3 different desserts for tomorrow”  But I find there’s a certain satisfaction in taking on those seemingly insurmountable tasks and then somehow pulling through.

@Nona99:  Do you have any pics of your cloak? That sounds freaking amazing! When I was a kid, I loved wearing a huge hand-me-down cape (from a Halloween costume) that was basically a floor length cloak on me.
