Could you post a pic of what you are trying to make? Maybe one of us could help ya out 🙂

Hmmm my weekly vent? Nothing too huge except I gotta switch out the pink buttons to navy blue buttons on my boutonnieres that I DIYed…hotglued onto paper flowers…not looking forward to doing that!

My vent of the week – my FMIL thinking everyone under the sun is going to be invited to the wedding. Give us some money and we will invite whoever the freak you wanna invite!!

Whew! Much better.

I don’t have any DIYs to vent over! Haha, maybe next week 😉

@heather5743: Woah that backdrop is intense! I can see how that would get frustrating if the videos made it look simple. Well you do have a lot of time until your wedding. Could you use some cheap materials to practice on?

If those things get to be too much what about using a draped fabric in your color and then haning some tissue paper poms in the background at alternating lengths?

I found a great tutorial on one of the blogs (can’t remember which, sorry not helpful) but the jist of it was that you make 4 accordians for each circle.  This is how you get them to open up properly.  You can use craft sticks glued to the edges of each accordian end to give support.  Glue/staple/tape the accordians together to form your circle.  This also allows you to get a bigger circle out of smaller sheets of paper.

Good luck!

@heather5743: Aww don’t beat yourself up too much over it! Crafts always look easy before you actually start them… It’s like a horrible little trap that is just too pretty to resist. I’m sure that if you practice them enough you will get the hang of it.

I made a whole wreath out of paper roses made from book pages and that was a task and a half. The first night I almost gave up on them because I was ripping every other one. At a 50% success rate I was pretty dissapointed in my own craftiness. After that first night they just got easier and easier. A few weeks later I had a complete wreath. So keep trying if you love them! You might surprise yourself.

DIY vent… perfect timing! I am working my fingers to the bone on my clay cake topper… before if I messed up I could smoosh it and start again but now that I’ve gotten pretty far (days worth of work) I’m scared to even touch it for fear of messing up… now I’m stuck. =(

what about making the accordian fan things and double stick taping the peices together till it makes a whole circle. once you have all the circles made you can take a big sheet and whip stitch the flowers on by the middles. it would need to wait till like the last week to get put together but it would work for the look you want!

What part of the project were you having a hard time with?

Try to make sure your creases are nice and sharp. Run the back of your fingernail along the creases a few times.
