Thank you for posting this!! This is my experience as well…except I think we are in the minority. I love my experience at DB…I love my dress, I love my MOH’s dress…and they are always great! They actually just let me exchange my dress for the next smallest size and it will be here in only 6 weeks!

Maybe its a difference in the people at each location? I didn’t get very good service when I went there, and the store was practically empty. I didn’t think the dresses were that bad, I just didn’t find what I wanted. Maybe the store where you went just had stellar employees!! 🙂

I think it all depends on the location.  The location that I went to when my friend was getting married had completely horrible service which made me not want to go there.

I’ve also had a good experience with DB.  Not the one here in the city (miserable) but the one upstate where my mom lives.  I find their selection to be good and the colors are really nice.  I also think their BM dresses are really nice!  Sure, they’re not super-top quality, but they do the job for a $100 dress.  My friend has even talked about wearing hers again to a wedding next year.  My mom just bought her MOB dress from there and everyone was super helpful.

I also think it definitely depends on location.  I’ve heard people have widely varying experiences among different locations.

Maybe you got lucky? 🙂 I’ve never had a terrible experience with DB. I’ve never had an especially fabulous one, either. But I’d have bought from them if I wanted any of the dresses I’d tried there.

I’ve been to DB 3 times as a BM, and each experience was worse than the one before. Every time I swear I’m never going back, someone else asks me to be a BM and makes me go there LOL.

However, all three trips were to the same store, so maybe it’s just that one? But the women were really rude, and didn’t have a clue about anything. I mean, you at least have to know what you’re talking about if you’re gonna be a beotch!! Wink

Totally depends on location. I went in NYC for the first time, and it was crazy in there (though they did eventually manage to slot me in without an appt). Last weekend I went in CT and it was much calmer – I was there for 2.5 hours and tried like 15 dresses before buying. My consultant did all the carrying and lifting and helping me get dressed.

One sort of frustrating thing is that she kept saying they didn’t have certain dresses in my size (including the one I bought actually), and then mysteriously finding them.

Honestly, though, I think “you get for you pay for” applies to service as well as the actual dresses. You can’t expect the same service at DB as most bridal salons, which charge several times as much for their dresses.

I had a good experience them too! That’s where I got my dress and my consultant was really great a very helpful, no pressure. I do think that it depends on the location and the people you have when you go, which is why they get such a bad rep.

I’ve never been in one, but that’s most likely because I’ve only ever heard that the one’s in my area treat you like cattle. Even if you have an appointment, they allow far too many brides in to try on dresses at one time, and pretty much don’t give anyone enough attention. I do know people out of my area that have had no problems with them. I personally didn’t want to deal with a bunch of girls fighting over dressing rooms and mirrors.

I’m pissed off because I checked the little box saying I didn’t want any e-mails/phone calls and I still got plenty.

Otherwise, I personally didn’t have a bad experience, but they ruined my cousin’s dress. They ordered sleves to be sewn on, but apparently the seemstress sucked and did such a poor job sewing them on, it completely ruined the dress, my cousin still had to pay the full price but she had to wear a sweater the whole day to hide the top of the dress.

I will chime in and say I have heard NOT to get your alterations done there.  I know that my bridesmaids and mom will be bringing their dresses to an independent tailor.

This was my experience.  My friend went to one in CT this weekend and found it… not unpleasant… but sort of a waste of time  I guess.  A FB friend had a terrible experience at one in the area too.

Since, I’ve gone to great lengths to undo my account with them so I stop getting 32 emails from them every day.

And to try to be fair (or I am a glutton for punishment… one of those) I went back this past Saturday to take a peek at veils because I was in the area.

I got in, and there was a girl at a desk who made me check in. Or tried.

Her: “Hi! Do you have an account with us? Please sign in.”

Me: “Hi! Oh. Uh. I do! But I just want to look on my own. Just going to look at veils.”

Her: “You need to check in. What’s your name?”

I tell her fast and don’t spell it. Good luck with that, desk lady.

Me: “But really, I don’t want to check in or activate my account or get a salesperson. Just a quick look at veils while I have a minute, is that okay?”

Her: “Well what we have for veils on the floor is most of them. But if you check in, we can show you the few we have out back.”

What the what? Are magical veils are out back? Why would you put crap veils on the floor and keep better veils hidden?

Me: “Urm that’s ok. I’ll just look at what’s there.”

She had given up on me at this point, I think. The veils were not very good quality at all. I was fearing my previous sales lady was going to come fluttering out of the back with arm gestures, so I high-tailed it out of there.

That being said, I am super glad people are having extremely good and pleasant experiences there! Me? Not so much.
