Does anyone not have ink? Are you thinking about it/on the fence? Or adamantly against it?
I sometimes think I want one, but I can’t think of a design or part of my body that I wouldn’t regret when I’m 80. So for me, it’s the permanence.

Can’t think of a design I’d want on me forever. Plus, when you look at my criteria…
* must be able to be covered for work
* have to feel comfortable showing random stranger that part of my body
* area must not stretch horribly with pregnancy
* can’t hurt too much
…that pretty much rules out any placement on my body I can think of.

Pretty much because I’m a pansy…
Also, I can’t think of anything that I would get that wouldn’t look redic when I’m older with kids… but that’s just me. I think if you can rock an awesomt tattoo, more power to you! I love looking at them, but I just don’t think it’s my style.

Plus I feel like I’d be embarrassed for my future children to see that I have a tattoo.

I kind of want to get a tattoo, but they’re so permanent and I have no idea what I would want on my body for the rest of my life.
Also, pain lol.

I’m one with three tattoos. I have them hidden (except the one on the back of my neck). My tattoos all have special meaning to me. The Beatles were a huge part of my life growing up. “Let It Be” helped me get through some rough times so I got it tattooed on the back of my neck. My LOVE with the O as a peace sign is just something I speak about daily. I’m a “modern” hippie as most put it. My star tattoo represents my youngest brother I raised (long story) for almost three years. I was only 14 at the time. It was a rough time for me when his father moved to FL with him and my mother decided to let it happen rather than fight. I would sing “You are my sunshine” to him when he was a baby. He would also pronounce it as “shun-shine”. A sun is a star so that’s where I got the idea from.
The pain? Depends on where you get it, how big, and how much detail. Writing is the easiest one to get.

Oh, man. I have totally been sitting here looking at tattoo designs! I want to get one, kind of to see what it feels like. But I can’t find something that I love enough to make a permanent part of my body. Also, I was thinking of getting one on my shoulder, but Fiance likes my back and it worried a tattoo would “ruin” it, so now I’m looking at ankle tattoos. Also, I always sort of wanted a Celtic desing, but Fiance has a Celtic tattoo, so it would look like I was copying him. . . Now I’m thinking something viney in the ankel area. We’ll see.

I want one sooo badly, the same one that I’ve wanted for literally over 5 years. I’m just too chickenshit/poor right now! haha. I think after the wedding when life calms down I’ll finally get it.
I also now want to get one in memory of my Papa and Fiance wants to get one in memory of his Papa, though his is already designed and mine is not. We’ll maybe get them together, that would be special.

@redheadem: I have no interest in getting a tattoo, but besides that its kind of frowned upon as I’m Jewish (not that I’m particularly relgious).

because i think they look nasty – especially when people have them on the neck and above the neckline
note: OP asked why and im being honest. i dont think all people with tatts are nasty, i simply hate looking at them

I can’t settle on what I’d want on my body forever. When our second daughter is born I was thinking of getting two little lotus flowers, but then I also don’t want to taint my blood if a transfusion is ever needed for either of them. I forget where I heard that, but it’s always given me pause.

@KatyElle: Ohhh good point. I don’t think you can donate blood if you have a tattoo either (and we get extra vacation days at my work if we donate blood haha).
@KatyElle: I thought the whole donation thing was just for X amount of years depending on where you got the tattoo? Some states have better reputations than others apparently as far as licensing. I could have sworn it was just one of those “You have to wait 2 years” things? I could be totally off base and wrong though. Hmm. I’ll have to go look that up because I won’t get one if I can’t donate, I donate all the time.

For me its several things:
- i cant decide what I would want nor where would I want it
- I cant justify spending what they cost here
- I dont want to see where it actually is on my body in 30+ years

I want a tattoo, but I haven’t been able to settle on a design yet. Plus, it is $$ we shouldn’t spend right now.
Darling Husband has a couple of tattoos on one arm and wants to extend it into a 1/2 sleeve when we have the $$ and time.
