I just realized that some people thnk they’re invited for dress shopping because I want their unadulterated opinion (I really don’t!), while I thought I was inviting them to have fun and so that we’d be together when I find the dress I’ll be married in (bonding). Why do you think most of us want company for this oh-so-critical activity?

Oops, posted this in the Bridesmaid or Best Man section by mistake – is there any way to fix that?

I went shopping with my mom, sister and a friend. I asked them because they were important to me and this was an important ‘event’ of the wedding planning. I liked there opinions, but at the end of the day I know what looks good on me. A reason I did not expect was that I was a horrible dress pick-outer… Give me a long rack of dresses and it was hard for me to pick out five. On the other hand they were grabbing lots of stuff! Some was a no-go, but it helped to better narrow down what I was looking for.

I think I need some reassurance, but if they go against my pick I won’t listen.

I Want company because I want second opinion and the truth.

I’m a pretty stand up girl. It’s my dress, you don’t need to love it, I do. However only my BM’s and mom’s were invited. However only my mom could make it.

all of the above? Honestly I would feel really insecure alone and probably get pressured into a sale by some pushy sales person. Its a big purchase no matter your budget so I needed all the help I could get.

I just really needed more than just my opinion. I loved my dress as soon as I tried it on, but I was worried it was too fancy for my rustic wedding. My FI’s mom and bridesmaid were with me and they convinced me that the dress was perfect! 🙂

I want the honest truth (and my besties will def give it!), and because it’ll be fun!

I do not want company when I go shopping.
Once I have narrowed it down to two or three, I’ll bring my boyfriend’s mother 🙂

I brought my Fiance and grandmother… I wanted my FI’s opinion since he had to pay for the dress and I wanted my grandmothers eye for fashion because I easily fall in love with anything poofy no matter what it looks like.

I brought Fiance with me. I just didn’t want to go by myself. I can get a bit of social anxiety sometimes and I couldn’t bear the thought of not having someone with me to help me say “No thanks” if the consultant wouldn’t listen or something.

I didn’t lol.
I went solo and kept my dress a surprise til the wedding 😉

I voted for almost all the options – for extra help, hands, eyes, honest opinions, for support, for fun, and to share it with my loved ones.

I’ll be probably bringing my Maid/Matron of Honor the first time, and then if my mom and Future Mother-In-Law want to come out to see the final choice (or top few favorites), they’re welcome!
I want the Maid/Matron of Honor there because she’ll be honest with me– mostly because I get over-excited and I don’t trust myself! I’ll pick the first thing I try on and then hate it later, so I want someone there to keep me grounded.
