My MOH showed me this video about the Canon in D, and I died laughing.

I can't hear the song the same way again!

That's AWESOME! I was dead set on not using Pachelbel Cannon since it seems like everyone uses it for weddings, but as soon as my organist played it when I was picking music, my eyes teared up. Totally used it :)

lol I saw that, but I still went with that song. It was the only thing I could REALLY picture myself walking to, gave just the right feeling and I felt all happy and teary and just seemed perfect. however, once I was actually walking down the aisle, I didn't end up hearing and of the music. I was so focused on everything else that I really truly didnt take any notice to it! Could have been playing Slipknot or something probably and I wouldn't have known...

I played the violin & viola growing up and yes, this is exactly how I feel.  It was great in 3rd grade when I, as a 2nd violin, got the melody for once.  By 8th grade I'd had ENOUGH.  And then my cousins all started getting married.  Canon in D and The Wedding Song, staples at pretty much every wedding I've been to.

this is so true - as a strings player (violin, viola AND cello) i detest playing this song.... but still might use it since it just MEANS weddigns to me :)

Not only is the video hilarious, but I can't use the song either! the canon uses a VERY VERY common harmonic pattern, and I simply can't hear the song without hearing my ear training professor naming the chords throughout the whole piece! We seriously listened to it every day for WEEKS! It's out for me ;)

I already hated that song.  I played flute in band and our band teacher thought it would be good to do that song with all flutes since we had like 15 flutes.

That was so hilarious... I had no idea so many songs use Pachelbel as a "base"
