    In list form.

    1) He likes to get in the shower. IN the shower, IN the water.  If we close the bathroom door and he hears the shower running he sits outside the door and cries loudly.  I'd let him in but who wants wet cat running around a small apartment EVERYDAY.

    2) He suckles our dog, nonstop.  He's a big boy now (1 year) but if we let him sleep in the bedroom with us and our dog, he will suckle our dog to the point where the dog begins to whimper and cry and then he'll keep going.

    3) He loves earwax. He breaks into our trash in the bathroom to get at q-tips.  Initially I thought he just liked Q-tips so I threw a few into the living room for him to play with.  They sat on the floor for a few days untouched while he broke into the trash can hundreds of time to chew on our earwax.

    4) Sometimes he sits in his litterbox hissing to himself.  The litterbox is in our laundry closet and we keep the door closed (it has a cat door) so if nobody goes in there to interrupt him he will sit in there hissing to himself for hours on end.

    5) He will only drink water from our dog's water dish or from our cups.  We've tried buying him his own identical set, we tried leaving little bowls throughout the apartment for him. Nope. Now I have one of our glasses painted with his name that we leave for him on the dining table.

I know everybody's cat has 'quirks' but really? This is out of control. Does anybody else's cat have quirks to this degree?

I had a weird cat... but not that weird. Methinks your cat IS an alien. :) And also that you should post a pic of the little ET.

OMG...I was laughing out loud when I got to #4...that is awesome. Our college cat used to sit and stare at us while we were in the shower (glass door shower). She was a little risque.

I don't have a cat right now.... but I just needed to say that #4 had me cracking up. I've had cats in the past and they never did ANYTHING like what you have described. I agree, your cat is an alien ;)

My cat suckles my other cat too! He will do it until my other cat has a wet belly and the victim just sits there and lets him do it!  and I agree, #4 made me laugh out loud for real! I admit when I read that I hissed under my breath a little which made me giggle even more! :)

Oh always happy to provide pics of my Baby! This actually reminds me of another one of his quirks - he LOVES video games.  If FI is playing any sort of military game, well you see. He sits there and he plays along. He likes to "tag" things as they explode.

That's actually hilarious to me (not so much to the video-gaming player :)

Our cat doesn't really do anything weird, she just likes to do things she knows will piss me off!

    That is hilarious.

My cat is an alien too. We have to make sure cleaning products are NOT left out, because she likes to lick the nozzles.

Also, She hisses while i pet her... but she's not unhappy... she likes it. It's like her way of purring.

I had to add a picture because she even LOOKS like an alien:

@robinlinz: Oh that's hilarious about her hissing instead of purring.. that makes me laugh.

My cat didn't know how to hiss until Christmas when he met my parent's cats. I think he's practicing in the potty. It's where we all do our best thinking.

My cat does a lot of the same things! He loves to lick ears (guessing the saltiness of the earwax does it for him), gets into the shower as soon as you start the water, and is OBSESSED with any cup you leave lying around. He just has to drink the water out of them. every. time.

Oh, and he also knows how to get in the sink and turn on the water.....smart (but rotten) kitty. =)

Our cat tried to save my husband from the big bad dog that lives on our floor.  He ran out of the condo door and started towards the dog like he was going to do battle!  My husband picked him up before he could reach the dog though.

    • Also he likes getting in the shower as well.
    • He will bat at the stream of water coming out of the faucet.
    • He is in love with q-tips.
    • He will bring his toy to you to play with him.
    • If he doesn't see anyone in the house, he starts morowing (kind of likey meowing, only more forlorn sounding).
    • He loves all kinds of people, except our handyman who apparently smells like pit bull.
    • If you moo at him, he will FREAK out.
    • He's really clumsy for a cat, so he is not allowed on the balcony.

Our conclusion is that he is more dog than cat!

My sister has a kitten that is psycho.  I'm pretty sure she thinks she is a dog!  Actually the kittens BFF is my sister's ginormous yellow lab.  They make quite the pair: a huge dog and a tiny little 2lb kitten, but they love eachother.  When you tell Dixie (the dog) to "get the cat" she runs over to Vivian (the kitten) and picks up Vivian by the head...as in, has the whole cat's head in her mouth.  (Don't worry, no animals have been harmed).  So, Dixie will do this for a second or so and then drops Vivian, and then Vivian starts jumping up and down like she wants Dixie to do it again.  It's the oddest thing in the world.  They have so much fun playing togther.

Oh my god, this is hilarious! And I thought our cats were weird!

We have one cat that likes to sit in the corner and our living room and meow loudl and for a long time for no reason. It's really bizarre, but not as weird as the things your cat does!

Yup, your cat does sound like an alien!  Funny how cats will suckle things. I woke up once to mine suckling on my knee.  My cat also likes to play tug of war with the dog although he isnt too good at it.

Oh, I did forget to mention that my cat also suckles! He clamps on and suckles anything with wool in it....he has a favorite blanket that we often come home to find in mysterious places (middle of the kitchen floor, stairway, etc.)....he drags it as he suckles, sometimes.

Cats are such crazy, complex creatures. =)

I love how some cats can be completely normal and others are completely insane.

We are catsitting for my sister right now.  My cat is 100 purrcent (hahahaha) normal.  Her cat is just...not.

-He is a Matrix cat and likes to climb door frames up to eye level and try to run along walls.

-If there is a Kleenex in the box waiting to get pulled up he will pull it out and eat the entire thing.  If he pulls it out just right he is able to leave another one ready to pull so he can repeat the process.

-He is almost a year old and suckles still.  Although he mostly likes to suckle the clothes you are wearing.  It is creepy.

-He randomly hisses.  Like anytime you touch his foot.  Or if you are in the bathroom too long.

-He eats and eats but is skinny, and his coat is like velvet.  We call him the "velvetine weasel."

-He breaks whiskers allll the time.  And then they are spiky and pokey.

-He sings along if you whistle.

lol these are great! My husband and our cat have a fun relationship. He likes to tease her by "dropping bombs on her" aka he raises his hand up high and whistles like a rocket and she goes CRAZY! She pretends like she hates it but really she can't get enough. She has stopped meowing like a normal cat and now she just squeaks like a mouse all the time because my husband gives her attention when she squeaks. She squeaks when we come home, when we move to another room, when we turn on the faucet, when we go to bed... squeak! squeak! squeak!

I forgot to mention that our one cat suckles as well -- he likes to suckle on people's ears! It is gross and painful.

Oh! If you do not have one, I must suggest getting a laser pointer TONIGHT! for your cat (s).  It is absolutely hilarious for feline and human alike!  Our two will chase it until they are utterly exhausted, the other just looks at you as if she is saying "I know you are holding the laser, I will not chase it.  I see it in your hand."  She's sassy, that one is.

So I love this post! Our two girls love the water, too...although they prefer to be on top of the shower rail, or in the shower after us. They sit in the tub of the sink until one of us turns it on just slightly for them to drink out of. Wilma jumps in my suitcase on top of the clothes every time we go out of town. She walks us to the door and meets us there when we come home. And she loves to eat our hair...had to stop that one when I pulled a huge clump of (wet) hair out one morning! Betty is just a spaz. She literally can not get enough petting. If we're even looking at one of the other cats, she runs up and sits between you and them and looks at you! Oh what would we do without are entertainment! Thanks for the laugh today, ladies! Kisses for the kitties tonight.

I just had to add as I'm sitting here listening to our cat meow. Our cat is part dog and part psychic. She has to be let outside, especially when it rains, and she will only drink water from the toilet. When we get turkey out of the fridge she is right there to get some. It doesn't even have to be out of the fridge yet and she's already there waiting. She also knows exactly when my fiancee is coming up the stairs in our apartment building. Neighbors will walk through and she doesn't even flinch, but when she hears him she'll be right at the door waiting. I don't know how she does it, I can't even tell the difference!

Hahaha! My beloved previous cat who passed away four years also loved to lick earwax. His favorite treat was an oil called Petromalt which kinda smelled like earwax so he probably couldn't tell the difference. And I just saw a cat on Petfinder.com yesterday who the foster parents said relaxed so much while taking a bath that she fell asleep! I think your cat has all the quirks combined in one furry body :) It just makes him special.

    haha your cat is crazy!

My mom's cat is OBSESSED with the humidifier in their bedroom...  Remember that fish on finding Nemo who loved the bubbles?  HE DOES THAT.  He'll sit in the doorway of my mom's bedroom staring at the humidifier (which is about 6-8 feet away) then it will start to bubble and he RUNS across the floor and tries to get the bubbles.  He also loves water out of the faucet and any fountain...  But other than his attitude thats the most of his quirks.

Jason and I's cat Stoli has some quirks, he loves to sit/lay on the EDGE of things and grab on, he'll lay on the corner of the ottoman/pillow/edge of couch and have his big ol paws wrapped around the corner:

Why I think my Cat is an Alien : wedding Stoli Sleeping

Why I think my Cat is an Alien : wedding 0220001615

And when he isn't sleeping while grabbing something, he sleeps like a dead cat:

Why I think my Cat is an Alien : wedding Stoli And Tuaca Christmas

And the fact that he LOVES to torture the dog... Blue will be playing with a toy throwing it around... then Stoli will come in and lay ONTOP of it... Because he knows that Blue won't go near him (because Stoli smacks him) and Blue will start huffing and puffing and then look at me and look at him like "Mommm, he took my tooooyyy!!" and do his "quiet bark" when I don't get the toy back for him... lol Stoli LOVES it... or is secretly wanting Blue to come near him so he can wack him a good one.  Mean kitty!

    sahsabahs, your cat is hilarious!

I think our cat is an alien too! He does the following:

    1. Suckles...on our hands. Yup! He gets comfortable by kneading our laps and rubbing his head under my chin and then when he's comfy and I'm petting him, he latches onto the fleshy part of my hand and suckles. He is almost 6 years old.

    2. He loves to dig used qtips out of the trash and chews them til there is no cotton swab on the end anymore...and proceeds to leave the sticks in neat piles for us.

    3. When I'm in the bathroom and the door is shut he scratches at the door...and then when I won't let him in he starts putting his paws under the door so I can see them.

    4. He won't eat the crumbs in his food dish. There are always crumbs and one time I piled up on the crumbs and put them on top of the food I was putting in his dish for the day...he ate around the crumbs.

    5. I always wondered why the floor was so wet so I watched him drink from his waterbowl one day (it's a dome type thing because he used to spill his whole bowl from moving it around)...and it turns out that he takes both of his paws and slaps at the water over and over and over again.

Both of my cats are aliens!

My cat Orangie suckles on my thumb like there's no tomorrow.  He's absolutely obsessed with it and he's 9.

When he was a kitten, he used to jump in the bathtub with me.  He's even jumped in a hot tub.
