hey yes i agree with you on those companies but i have a few friends that purchses thier dresses from storeofdress.com which is a china based company also. one purchased her alfred angelo look a like and omg is came out amazing!!!! it was sewn to her exact measuments. the same color and bead work and fabric the actual alfred angelo was made from. did not look cheap it looked amazing on!!!! she paid 150 for her dress as opposed to the real dress at 800
Early on, I had considered purchasing from them. I did some research on them though. If you google them for reviews, you might be surprised at what you find. I can't believe they are still in business with the reviews that I saw. It is sad that, even with the internet, brides and other customes don't do their research prior to making a purchase.
A few of the New Zealand brides on weddings.co.nz have had success buying from Light In the Box so I don't think they're all bad. I've also heard the BM frocks are a pretty good deal and reasoably well made.
I'm a New Zealand bride and I have ordered both of my bridesmaid dresses from Light in the box and they are great. I had some issues with one of them being too short so I sent it back for a full refund and ordered another one a little longer. I can't complain!?
I bought my reception dress from Light In The Box. Luckily, everything turned out great, but I understand your apprehension. I was pretty worried till I got the dress!
If you do go that route, I would recommend doing the custom sizing, and also a dress that has a lot of reviews, which was what I chose.
Nzbride, any chance you could post some photos? I'm looking into this but I'm still concerned it's mostly not legit.
If anyone wants a recommendation for an online China based company that IS legit, feel free to PM me - I did a lot of research before buying my dress by that route (and I'm obviously not just here to spam you, haha - lots of posts!) and am extremely happy with the product I got.
I got my dress from lightinthebox.com and I love it! I actully talked to a few other girls who got dresses from them also and they all LOVED them!
all the dresses come from china anyway, so really, what's the difference?
i was absolutely going to go the china route (although maybe in person since i have to go there semi-often) if i didn't find something at home, but i found a dress on super sale here so it's moot. well, bridesmaids dresses.....
I'm not saying these companies are not real or that they don't sometimes come through. What I AM saying is that I choose to boycott them because of what I perceive as a shady business practice of posting fake reviews. Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong, but I'm just saying...
I did recently purchase from lightinthebox and I'm a little mixed about the results. First of all, I felt the quality/design of the dress was well represented. Very pleased with that...However, I was TOTALLY not pleased with the color. I ordered a emerald green dress w/ matching satin ribbon at the waist. The dress that was sent was a horrid hunter green with a satin that does match at all. It is literally the ugliest thing I have ever seen in my life....and beings I didn't return it within 7 days (my sister, the bride wanted to see it in person first) I can't return it at all now. :(

I've seen some legit reviews of these two companies, but for the most part, the mentions of these companies come from users with 1-5 posts. They are just downright FISHY.
Do they really think they are fooling us? Someone puts up a glowing review of one of these companies as their first post? No pictures. No real info. Just how wonderful they are.
Pulllleazzze. Sell it someone who is buying. I'm so annoyed that even though I had planned to consider both of these companies, I now will not. That's just shady business to put up fake reviews.
