Just a quick note and hug to all those waiting.
Just wanted to say that now we have a wedding to kick into high gear (a few weeks from now b/c we’re going to relax, enjoy, and just let all this absorb in), I am so glad that I made the choice to decide earlier on about style, colors, season, etc.
Now that we’ve gotten engaged, it will really make things go much more smoothly and quickly imho. That means for you, less stress, more time to enjoy the engagement rather than stressing on details, details details! We’re super excited because imho it’s easy sailing from this point forward. Just the venue, dress, and date.
It gives you a bit more time imho to enjoy things. So kudos to all of you and a ton of hugs. You are all doing the right thing!
Just had to say that.

i’m sooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy for you (but you already know that!!!) luvs ya!!!

Thanks. I luvs ya tons!
I seriously think all waiting brides to be take a huge load off their backs if they get alot of this stuff kinda in order before.
And one way or another, its all good.
I am a huge believer in avoiding stress any way possible. It would seem however today, the only person stressing is my sister. She’s all about jumping on it. She just makes me laugh so much. Last night she said “do you think you’re the only gal who is going to get an engagement ring this month? WE need to jump on this and secure the venue”
I love it. She adds in “WE” in the planning. And it’s so cute.

Yah! I just clapped my hands when I saw this thread! I’m so happy for you!

Thanks for the favorable review, belle! I have no idea how I would cope with planning a wedding if I didn’t get a head start.
“Success favors a prepared mind.” Quote of the day, haha.
And once again, congratulations on the engagement!

Thanks ya’ll. Just don’t laugh at my amateur ring porn on the other thread. Not great, but something..lol!
And yes, it does give you imho a world of stress reduction by pre planning.
I am so not going to be somebody who stresses over it and I’m darned and determined to make wedding planning fun.
Having alot of things out of the way does give you that edge. And imho an engagement is also a really special time where you just glow and bask in love and I don’t wanna be pulling my hair out and aging myself and my poor skin further by worrying.
I think everybody on this board does the right stuff! 🙂

I am TOTALLY preplanning! I have a whole slew of pictures saved, and a whole stack of magazines begging to be gone through. My biggest problem is that there are 3 types of venue I LOVE, and we have all 3 in Lexington, and they’re… all totally different! So I basically have to have 3 different weddings planned before I even get engaged. That gets a little bit overwhelming!

I 100% second what you said. We “pre-planned” majorly and our engagement has been great because of it. In a way, I feel like the day we got engaged felt like what I imagine the wedding day will feel like – a culmination of so much planning and thinking, the excitement of finally sharing what’s been under wraps, and the joy of just reveling in what’s happening rather than having to stress out about it! I wouldn’t have done it any other way.
Still, no matter how much you pre-plan, engagement is stressful too! FI and I just got done hacking away at the guest list, and boy, that was not easy!

I already felt sorta engaged too.
T told me last year he wanted to marry me and that we should begin as though we were, but I’m such a crazy gal for tradition.
So I did most of it on paper but bought an amazing pair of shoes.
That’s all I bought. One pair of shoes.

AND WHAT A GREAT PAIR OF SHOES THEY ARE!!

Le sigh. I love em’ too. but now I want one more.
