@nutMeg13: I have a feeling that sometimes the producers encourage them to and try to emphasize it when editing the interviews. But it certainly gives one pause and makes one worry when planning their own day.
the ones that complain that they ate too much food during cocktail hour so they were too full to eat dinner make me laugh - so the B&G are the reason why you couldnt stop shoving food into your mouth???
I really enjoy the ones who say "the steak was over-cooked for my liking". Well guess what, sister, it's not a steak house serving made to order dinners... it's a freaking WEDDING with a hundred guests. They're not going to make sure you get medium rare when they're cooking to medium. Ugh.
I also think that they deliberately pick brides that might clash.
In Aus they also have that show and I remember seeing one episode where they had an absolute catty princess who HAD to have it her way, a super rich snobby girl who didn't understand what a 'budget' was, a low income bride and a hippie pagan bride.
Yeah, it was a trainwreck to watch.
They just do it for ratings. I actually don't like watching it because it just seems to be mostly bitching.
One of the worse nitpickers was a girl who rated overal experience as like .. a 6 or something. Her reason was that there were "no flowers"... Seriously? The wedding looked fine without flowers. wth
The producers definitely make them say negative things about the wedding, that's what makes the show more "interesting" I guess. Also, these ladies are in it to win a honeymoon so of course they won't be hesitate to downgrade their competitions wedding lol
I agree, they producers must match certain girls up together and I'm sure they edit the crap out of everything that's said. Maybe they even encourage the girls to be a tad picky, by leading them with certain questions?
By the way, if you thought the TLC version was catty, they just started playing "4 Weddings Canada" on Slice and DAMN, SON, those girls be bitches!
I agree with everything that everyone has said, but it is really begining to annoy me! Like it is not the bride and grooms fault if it is rainy, or if the best man gets drunk, or whatever reason they come up with.
Even if they are in it to win a honeymoon, I just think its not very classy to nitpick over things that the bride and groom have no control over.
Sorry, as someone who is planning a un-conventional wedding (in a state park! reception at a camp!), I just had to rant a moment.
My sister and I were watching a past episode today and she goes, "They might as well just not have food at weddings anymore according to these people." Lol. They didn't like that Bride A only had heavy apps, but Bride B's food wasn't very good and Bride C's cocktail hour was "sparse." I was like DAMN just enjoy the free food and shut up already.
As much as I love wedding shows, I've come to the conclusion that I'm not a fan of 4 Weddings. I always hoped there would be a girl on there that would want a wedding like how I want mine, with a similar budget, so I could watch it, relate and maybe learn something! Nope...it's always 4 super different brides, mostly with big budgets (though not always) and they are so picky and some of them I just find annoying...so I've tried to like that show, but I just don't. My Fair Wedding is where it's at!!
Shows like this made me a nervous wreck about what others would think of my wedding!
I liked the one tonight where they marked a bride down because the Best Man was wasted... because, you know, that was part of the bride's vision...
the best one was the bride who complained about the food.......it was steak and lobster. Really? You're going to complain about FREE surf and turf?
My dad was watching it with me one Sunday, he said the same thing. But I think with anything - if you are judging something two things happen. You mention the things that wow'd you and the things that didn't. I mean, you are asked to Judge their wedding. I have never gone to a wedding I plan to judge - I just go and have fun, and oooh and aaahhhh at the bride and goom and all their lovingness - Yes, Lovingness is a word in wedding land :-)
Everything done on "reality" shows is purely for ratings. If there isn't enough drama for television, the produces give the "talent" suggestions or nudge them into dramatic situations or edit HEAVILY to create drama out of nothing.
I love it when the brides complain about the church or religion... One wedding was greek orthedox? and the brides were complianing that they couldn't understand the ceremony... are these people sapose to change their religion and culture for the show? Or the location of the church is poor... not everyone can pick and choose their church!
hahaha they are hilarious. I once saw someone give a bad score because it was cold outisde and she didn't bring a jacket, LOL! But I think mostly they are like that because obviously they want to win so they think maybe if they nit pick the other brides will get a lower score. So entertaining though, I love Four Weddings!!!

So I have probably seen almost every episode of Four Weddings, and I have come to one conslusion: these brides can be so picky, sometimes to the point of cattiness! I understand that this is a show to judge the best wedding, but sometimes I have to wonder at how much these brides nitpick.
I guess that I just don't understand why quite a few brides on this show will mark off points for things that the bride has NO CONTROL over! Seriously!
