I’m from Binghamton but I life in San Fran now so I’m no help. i think the reason why there is no CNY board is because it is a smaller region and there are (clearly) not a huge demographic so they’ve been bulked into UpstateNY

Hi! I’m living in Syracuse, orginally from near Buffalo and planning a wedding near Rochester! This calls for looking at vendors all over the place! I’d love to chat about the craziness of wedding planning or a meet up!

adreneline — have you thought about your cake/dessert yet? My sister works up in Rochestor a few weeks at a time and she always brings back cheesecakes and torts from Philip’s European Restaurant. So good!

I’m here! I don’t live in Ithaca, but I went to college at Cornell and am getting married next month at Sage Chapel, and we’re having our reception at the Fontainebleau Inn in Alpine (in between Ithaca and Watkins Glen)! A meetup would be fun, if only I didn’t live in Chicago!

I grew up and am getting married in the Finger Lakes. So far I have liked planning my wedding there because the vendors don’t seem to be trying TOO hard to extract every last penny that they can get from your fingers. And where else can you have the local grocery store do the catering for your wedding and when you tell people who is catering they say, “Oooo, that’s gonna be so good!” lol

@bluebutterfly: I don’t want to scare you off, but I have had a bad experience with Glenora. Not wedding related, but large party related. Let’s just say they are one of those places that will nickel and dime you!! My fiance and I actually had to have a confrontation with them over something totally ridiculous.

Try looking at Ventosa? It was waaaaay out of our price range (under $8000 for entire wedding budget) but if you are saving up more than we did, I have heard nothing but GREAT things about their weddings. And they have great wine, better than Glenora’s in my opinion.

We are using an up-and-comer from Rochester for the photos. We met her this past weekend, she seems nice! I will let you guys know if she is good, because she was a steal!!

@bluebutterfly: I’m hoping that the reception site being away from the chapel won’t be too much of an inconvenience either!  We are trying to accomodate our guests as best we can by hiring two charter buses to take them from their hotels to the ceremony then to the reception about 25 minutes away and then back to their hotels at the end of the night.  We don’t need anyone getting lost or driving drunk on those hilly roads out there :-).

Hi ladies, I’m from Corning NY! I seriously considered having our wedding at our lake house on Keuka Lake (Finger Lakes) but decided against it. Our wedding’s actually going to be in Pittsburgh. I have a lot of friends getting married in the Ithaca/Finger Lakes region in the upcoming year, though!

@bluebutterfly: My brother is a cook at Glenora right now! I can tell you personally that the food is very tasty. Also, have you looked at Esperanza on Keuka Lake? BEAUTIFUL.

Holler Ladies! I am so glad to have found this post! I am living in Boston but planning a wedding in Geneva (the Fiance and I went to school there) and so far, it’s hard to figure out which vendors in the area to use. We’re still lacking a florist, cake baker (although I’d like cupcakes), dj and photographer – any have any suggestions I could check out?! I’d be forever grateful!

@Irishker03 — I’m marrying in Binghamton and my photographer is Erik Korver http://www.korverphotography.com I’m really impressed with his work on his website and blog. I am not sure if he’ll travel to Geneva, but he might!
