We are soo close to buying my ring. We have spent a lot of time talking, researching and visiting with people and places that we would consider buying it from. We finally decided that going with the private jeweler who made my sisters engagement ring was the best fit for our budget and my specifications.
In our first meeting with him we sat down for an hour and a half going over every detail and generally being educated by an industry professional on our best options. I know what I want. I told him what I wanted and he gave us both sides to the story. He told me his hesitations behind the style I like and what metal would be the best for that style because I have made it clear that is what I like and we are prepared to work within the constraints of said style.
I told him about a specific ring I was looking at, at a particular jewelry store and showed him a picture of the ring. He went looking for this particular ring and it took him quite some time to find it. I thought he wasn’t going to be able to get it because I am just a difficult person like that so I have also continued doing my homework which he suggested was a wise choice.
I went back to the jewelry store where I found the first ring and realized that I no longer truly wanted that ring anymore. I also confirmed that although the jeweler suggested I go with a round cut diamond because they are timeless, I definitely want a cushion cut.
My issue: I cannot for the life of me find what I want all wrapped up into one ring. I’ve been avoiding designing and casting a ring because it is more expensive and we are trying to get the most bang for our buck. I’m so god damn close to this proposal and you know what is standing in the way of it. ME!!! I feel like an ass because I cannot simply find what I want and I of course want what I want.
I found a verragio ring that I really do like but #1 it is 18k gold which is more maluble than 14k and the jeweler has warned me that the number one issue with halos and profile diamonds is that they become lose over time with wear on the ring. #2 because it is 18k it is more expensive than what I was originally looking at.
If I could have the best of everything it would be a combination of the first 3. The second one is the Insignia I really like and the third one is the original ring I thought I wanted. Ugh!!! It is a running joke between BF and I that it is just in my blood to be this difficult. I’m always like this, but I want to find the perfect ring so we can just buy it and get the show on the road!!
Bee’s do anyone of you have any suggestions? If not, was anyone else this difficult about finding a ring? Should I just pick something I’m mostly happy with maybe settle for the split shank instead of just the band or maybe compromise on the basket/crown style I LOVE sooo much?
