My roommate smokes 7 to 10 cigarettes before he even leaves for class at 8:30 in the morning. It doesn’t bother me that he smokes (he is a big boy and can make his own decisions), it bothers me that he smokes in the house. I am not a smoker, but everything that I own reaks of smoke. It is driving me crazy. He was gone for the whole weekend, and my Fiance and I managed to get the smoke smell out of the house. But guess what, he wasn’t even home an hour before the house started reaking of smoke again. It is so gross. And my Fiance and I can’t even say anything because the lease on the house is in his name, not ours.

Why cant you say anything? Do you not contribute financially? I imagine you knew he was a smoker prior to moving in? If so, the options are pretty slim. Why not ask him to crack a window to get some of it out?

What? Why can’t you say anything?
Move if you can’t deal with it.

Do y’all pay rent there and utilities? I use to lived with three smokers, but they knew the rule was they couldn’t smoke inside. Also, if the landlord complained about any smoke smell in the furniture they would have to pay for it themselves. I think you should tell him something!

Move? I couldn’t stand it either.

Eew! I can’t believe the homeowner is ok with a tenant smoking inside!

@strawbabies: That’s what I was thinking! It’s not just the furniture that will have the smoke smell it will be in the carpet and the walls. Maybe he owns the home though.

I’m confused…. Why would you move in with a smoker in the first place if it bothered you to live with someone who smoked?

Move- I can’t stand smokers… the smoke alone burns my eyes.
