Some people don't because they know that there are people they know here and they want to be anonymous. Or people want to keep their privacy since they talk about their location so people might be able to find them. Plus, some people don't want to post pictures of their dress so no one sees it before the wedding!
I used to have an account that used my name and I posted pictures, but my husband is really private and one of his friend's wife mentioned something I put on here...nothing bad or scandalous, but he didn't feel comfortable with it. He doesn't really like Facebook either, but he has to deal with that one. I don't share stuff that secret, but talking about TTC and stuff like that I prefer to be a little bit anonymous. I also feel that I don't have to censor myself as much this way.
I hate not being able to post pictures though!
I won't post full photos of me, DH or my kids for privacy reasons. I posted a photo of us in our ski gear only because our faces are covered with ski goggles and we have our ski helmets on.
"I won't post full photos of me, DH or my kids for privacy reasons."
This.
I am okay with edits of myself, but I would never post a picture of my partner (without his consent), or my kid (just not comfortable with kids pics on the web).
Anonymity has a bit to do with it, comfort-levels too (and a smidgen of paranoia in my case).
I dont post my face because I like the anonymity. I dont want one of my gfs to recognize me on here and start looking at all of my posts. its more to avoid drama then anything...
I don't mind; the only reason I think twice about posting a photo is because I know I look overweight in them all and am quite embarrassed about it!! No one knows me on here and everyone always seem really nice about piccies, I've never come across anything nasty which is really lovely!!

In my case it is because I did have a stalker for several years who would "find" me on the net, even by friending ppl who knew me on FB (and I don't know how he knew I knew them) and taking pics where I had been tagged for his own collection. I also heard that the photos "never go away". I don't know how they would be tracked without a name however. . .
I don't because of my professional life - wouldn't want colleagues and clients seeing me and reading the stuff I write .
Also friends might be offended if they see me posting comments about how much I didn't like something about their weddings!
I have posted pictures of myself from my wedding, but I don't have anything posted that would actually give away my true identity if someone was to google me for example. Then again, I went on a TV game show on ABC this year, so even if people were to find me, it wouldn't compare to that kind of public humiliation. (sigh)
I have debated yanking my pictures down from time to time because I've said some things I wouldn't necessarily want IRL acquaintances to run across and be able to identify as written by me (esp my FMIL or parents!), but in the end, I just don't really care that much, which is why I've posted tons of pics. Some others might be more concerned about that sort of thing.

Just curious, I see it's about split on this site, many girls post pics of themselves and many girls don't. I don't have a problem posting a picture of myself. It's not like people know where I live or are going to come find me. Well, I hope not! BUt I'm just curious for those of you who don't post pics of yourself....why not?
