So, this is an obvious one. I totally forgot I was "facebook friends" with my friend's ex. He's never on, he never talks to me, NEVER posts to me (and vice versa) and got lost in the sea of old college facebook friends so I forgot i was even friends with the guy. I don't even like the guy after what he did to my friend (dumped her in a Steak n Shake amongst treating her crappy). Oh, and openly telling us a woman's place is at home, having babies, not in  the workplace =]

Saturday I did homework while DH was at a bachelor party. All night I cranked on it so I could relax with him Sunday. I FB posted "It took me 6 hours, but I managed to prove the Brinell hardness equation. Turns out it was a simple geometric equation of a sphere. Sigh!" Yeah it really did take me 6 hours to prove it. It shouldn't have, but it did.

This dude responded: "FYI in industry Brinell hardness is a field test (estimated hardness measurement) and no operator should be using it as a realistic measurement of material hardness. Vickers and then Rockwell Hardness is more accurate. When in doubt, contact a materials/metallurgical engineer"

HELLOOO, I was doing homework! And i am a materials engineer, you don't really think i sit around proving equations all day, do you? On a SATURDAY night?!

So yeah, I sent my friend a message and said "omg your ex posted on my wall! Random!" and she replied back "wow...he's even more condescending than he used to be. Funny how his idea of being helpful is really just him being rude". DH said "wow, what a douche. You should have told him, "no sh*t Sherlock, it's called homework""

Maybe it's time to clean up the FB friends =]

I've been slowly purging my FB friends... especially the girls from freshman year that lived in my dorm with me. And people from high school. Neither are relevant to my life anymore, and I need to stop comparing my life to theirs!

LOVE the random comments from someone you haven't even THOUGHT of in ages. Like the oh-so-helpful "FYI, so-and-so from high school got married at the same place you are going to, and hers totally sucked." well, thanks, that was helpful. Nice to hear from you, jackass.

You should just comment "It was a homework assignment", for a good laugh for your friends before you de-friend him. Some people are so obnoxious!

what a jerk. I have some people on my FB that I don't really like, but mostly (so far) no problems. I did delete someone the last week though, first time ever deleting someone. But, I hate her. hubby hates her, she's totally screwing with my brothers life (his old hs flame that he's never gotten over). My brother had the nerve to invite her to our wedding (without asking first), and after a great big giant ordeal, she rudely didn't even show up even though she said she was like the week before. Not only did she NOT show up, she didn't even have the courtesy to apologize or even at the very least say congrats to my husband and I. grr.

What a dope! One of my simple pleasures in life is cleaning out facebook "friends." It's just so satisfying... On a related note, I hate it when people friend me but then never even say hi or respond to any messages you leave them. What's the point? Oh fb and the dilemmas you bring into my life!

    edit: at CHK: hahahahaha!

This is such a well-timed PSA to clean out your facebook friends.

I've been meaning to do it for some time now.  I'm friends with a friends' weirdo ex who posts statuses like "A real workout is stealing a baby and running away with it."  WTF?  Who says stuff like that?!  Guys I went to high school with have messaged me, "Wow u got hott since h. school." Uh, yeah that was almost ten years and 40 pounds ago.  Guess you missed the engaged status, thanks.

I need to get rid of people who update their statuses constantly as to how their child is doing with potty training ("only four pairs of wet underwear today!"), invite me to stupid Mob Wars or Ocean Critters or whatever 77 times a day, and people who spend 75% of the year counting down to when they can return to the Jersey shore.

    /end Facebook rant

I coudln't think of anything good to respond at the time, so I said "yeah i consulted myself, the aka materials engineer. it was a homework assignment for grad school. We actually have machines at work that do this for us". Kinda lame but hey, it was late. lol

Deifnitely time for a friend purge! I'm kinda wondering if I'm going to run into him this weekend at a fraternity wedding. Hmmmm.

Also, all HIS facebook posts (which i never noticed until I clicked his profile, but only b/c he crapped on my wall!) are all his tri-marathon times for running, swimming, and biking. Every. Single. Post. is his updated times! Kind of funny...in a sad kind of way =]

I get annoyed when I receive a friend request from someone I wasn't really friends with or haven't spoken to in 10+ years with absolutely no message or explanation. They're obviously just trying to up their numbers, they really don't care about reconnecting.

I also have an uncle who is unemployed and disabled and sits around playing mafia wars all day. The first 'trick' I learned was how to hide his updates because there would literally be one from him every 30 seconds.

Don't have to tell me twice!

I'm super selective of my FB peeps, and I make a regular sweep to drop the obligatory "oh he's dating so and so" add.

Hahaha I saw that on your FB! I was *thisclose* to saying something, too. But I thought you handled it nicely :) Seriously, though, what a douche.

This guy is suuuuuuch a prick lol. But i feel like if i made *another* comment, it'd just make me overly annoyed, like he got under my skin. Which this guy would love. Brings back a lot of frustrations from when my friend was dating him and we all hated him. lol. Same stuff, two years later, eh? =]

FB is one of those things you like to have, but is annoying as hell sometimes.
Like just 5 mins ago I posted on my FI's wall about Cole Hammels sucking this year at pitching (Phillies fan here) and I said something like this "I'm pissed off thaty Cole hammels has been sucking all year and is still bitching about pitching. My theory is you shouldn't bitch unless your doing good." in other words I was saying he hasn't been doing his best and he's been half assing it all year, and he is complaining about how he wants more money, and he pitches so hard, blah blah blah, and his friend Steve goes "You must be good at everything." I was like "Umm no, but Cole Hammels has been sucking all year, and I'm just tired of hearing him bitch about how he does so hard and needs money, when he has clearly been half assing it. That's why Cliff Lee is our best pitcher now." I was just like "WTH is his problem? Jeez."
Also there's a girl my FI is friends with on FB from college, and I'm friends with her too, which I don't know why. I really can't stand her. Anyway She is for Gay rights "apparently." and bleongs to groups for gay rights, but then she belongs to like 2 groups that make fun of gays, so I posted a status saying "I love how people contradict themselves, and are hyprocrites." and she comments "Heh Heh, I know right!?" and I am just like "heh, yea...." but I'm really thinking "crazy physco, that's about you."

I need to do some FB clean out, for real.

I've started hiding people who post the results of their Facebook quizzes, especially after I found out that publishing the results of your quiz is OPTIONAL. I have absolutely no desire to find out what kind of candy you are, thanks.

I was friends with this girl from hs on fb, and she had a status on Sept 11 mocking Pres Obama for wanting to turn it into a day of service (she's pretty repub), and I said something like, "whats wrong with that? how better to honor the dead?" and the chick blocked me. Politics and facebook don't get along.... and I didn't even insult her or say she was wrong! bah.

@ moderndaisy PLEASE teach me how to block that! My cousin is the same way, Mafia Wars all day long.

I have started hiding apps and deleting people. They're so annoying sometimes! But FB is good, too. I just got a friend request from my fave childhood cousin who I lost contact with once my Grandma died (long, boring story). My point is that there are good points too. But yeah. That guy was a douch! Loved your response! lol.

Thanks for posting this. I did a clean up today and removed some people and hid some apps cause I don't need to know what God told you today or how your Yoville is going. It was cathartic!
