I really like your band I think it’s quite thick but while maintaining a feminine look. I find the big rings look a bit masculine, that’s just me. Do you think you’ll want to stack in the future? Or get an eternity ring?

Splodge2003:  I like your current band a lot. I think it’s very pretty. I like wide bands, too — so I think a wider band would look great on you. I also think the milgrain one you’re looking at will be pretty with your diamonds added to the middle. Is it possible to keep your current band and also get a wide one? That way, you have the best of both worlds. I have no idea if that would be in your budget or not.

My original wedding band is quite wide. It’s about 5 or 6mm. No stones, but it has yellow gold with milgraining on the inside of ring and the outside edges. And white gold in the middle, where the squares are.

I don’t have any really good pictures of it by itself …

Sometimes, I wear it with another band or even with my anniversary ring.

Splodge2003:  Thanks! I’ve always liked the milgraining on it, and I love that it’s mixed metals, too. Although often I think it’s hard to tell the middle is white gold. I think that’s because of the design and the way it reflects the light from the edges.

Back when we got married, I really really wanted white gold for my rings. And white gold was NOWHERE to be found. Everything was yellow, yellow, yellow. Not that I have anything against yellow gold. It just wasn’t what I had always dreamed of. When we realized we wouldn’t be able to afford the band that matched my ERing, DH picked out this one because it at least had white gold on it.

For several years, I wore just my band. So I’m definitely partial to the look of a plain, wide band for women as well as men. I think it’s beautiful. And I totally agree with you: It screams “married”!

My diamond band is a little over 4mm.  I have a solitaire and I wanted a wider diamond band because my fingers are larger…9.5 ring size.  My plain band is also 4mm.  Personally, I LOVE chunky wedding rings on women…I think it looks feminine and screams married.  I think your idea sounds perfect.

I really like the band you have. But if you want a thicker one then I’d go with 4 mm since you have thin fingers and anything thicker will be too much.
