I love the Wii! I haven't really used it much for fitness purposes--just for fun. A friend of mine LOVES the Biggest Loser game on the Wii-she says it's pretty tough.
I'm a Wii Bee! I toned up quite a bit using the Yoga on Wii Fit, but it does take more than that to actually lose weight ;)
I was doing the Wii Fit for awhile and I was doing really well! But then I got a kitten.... I blame him, now I've gained back all the weight I lost! Lol it was very difficult to do any sort of exercise at home with a kitten climbing up me. Although I suppose I should start again now that he's a little older and (slightly) more well behaved.
I like doing the boxing on the regular wii sports. The dodging balls can make your sides sore if you kind of exaggerate the movements. The only thing I think gives me a workout on the wii fit is the hula hoop part. Its fun too :)
I use wii fit everyday I love it! I don't really have time right now to hit the gym so it works for me and I do feel like it gives me a work out. I don't a lot of the yoga and strength exercises, and on the wii fit dh and I play the skateboarding and the obstacle course games all the times and they def. work out your legs!
@LemonLolly: I love the obstacle course! I always feel sore after that one. I think it's because I'm too stubborn to stop if I don't beat it, so I do it over and over and over again!
@MissBoPeep:I had to look up the obstacle course because I didn't remember it. I guess it's not on my boring original wii fit! It looks fun though!! Maybe I'll have to upgrade to the wii fit plus :)
I've had problems with the Wii bar reading the motions of the Wiimote and nunchuck, so when I try to do squats or inline skating, it won't register that I'm doing them and then I get irritated and give up. That's on EA active.
Wii Fit is fun. I love the obstacle course and the one where you are chicken/bird thing and flap your arms around like a crazy person and try to land on targets. Looking like a fool is what I'm good at.
I'm a big fan of hula hooping and the flap-like-a-bird thing!
It's interesting, when I first started using the EAactive, there were a couple of exercises that the remote wouldn't track, but since I gave up on the 30 day fitness and just used the pre-programmed workouts, I've had better luck (but then again, it's only day two!)
This is probably a dumb question, but can someone explain how you use the Wii Fit to help with weight loss? My housemate has one lying around, and I've been eyeing it up, but the few times I've tried it, it just seems like a bunch of games. Is there a program of exercises that you can do? I'd love it if I could use it on the days I can't make it to the gym.
Thanks!
If you have the wii fit plus game you can combine various needs to create a workout. Some of the games will give you a pretty good workout - hula hooping and rhythm boxing in particular.
I love the rhythm boxing too! I haven't used it enough for it to be actually considered a fitness program for me, but it is super fun :).
Do you have netflix? I also use my wii to stream netflix on the tv, and they have some really good exercise videos!
@jenandchris: I've been doing that for a while, but the selection is actually pretty limited. I've been cycling through various things - Jillian Michaels, the Shape workouts on Netflix, yoga dvds and nothing is really sticking. So now I'm on to the Wii fit to see what happens
I have a wii that I totally do not even use, at all.(I have had it for 3-4 years)
@Dragonsus: Yeah - admittedly, I'm not super consistent about it. But I like that I can do 2 or 3 of the 10 minute videos, and it feels less like 30 minutes of working out, which keeps my attention :)
Interesting- I just logged in to Wii Fit and it tells me I've only gained 10 lbs. I'm just going to say thank you, since the Fit is not known for being flattering!

The first year of marriage has almost passed and as a present has left me with about 15 extra pounds that needs to go!
Unfortunately, I'm trying to finish my Doctorate, and have no extra money and very little time, but I do have a Wii- with both the EA active and the wii fit games.
I've done two days of EA active workouts, and I will say that my legs and shoulders are good and sore, but I'm going to need to add in some ab work to make it a real "full body" workout
Has anyone had success with the Wii Workouts??
