I’m looking for something to use for videogaming and fitness and I’m having trouble deciding what side to take in the videogame debate: Wii or Kinect?
Wii: I like the Wii Fit balance board. I think I’d actually buy the snowboarding game and have fun on it! I’d like to do the stair-steps and yoga on the balance board and it seems really cool. I’ve played Just Dance on the Wii and felt like I got a workout, and had a lot of fun.
Kinect: I like how involved the system is– I’m going to have to actually do more dance moves than wave around a controller. I have heard good reviews about the fitness games but am worried I won’t get to do as much yoga/pilates? The Xbox can play DVDs, and I don’t actually have a DVD player at my apartment!

XBOX XBOX XBOX! Lol I have the Wii and the Xbox Kinect, the Kinect is a million times better. I only have Kinect Sports and the Kinect Adventures game that came with it, but even just the sports is a work out! I felt like I worked out more playing Kinect Sports for an hour than I did doing the Wii Fit for 2 and a half hours.

@MissBoPeep: Oh that’s good to hear! I’m wary of dropping so much money on what is probably going to be a Netflix/DVD player and a workout thing, so since I’m buying it to exercise I want it to work!
I think I’m mostly just sad that if I choose Xbox I won’t get to fake-snowboard!

I LOVE my Wii with the EA Sports Active 2. Love it!

I’ve heard that they’re coming out with a new WII soon, so it will be an outdated technology. So far, XBOX is still current (especially with the popularity of the Kinect) so I doubt they’ll be replacing it anytime soon. Not sure if that matters to you!

KINECT. We have both and XBox wins out, fo sho. It’s so much nicer to control it with your hands, rather than having a remote/controller.
Dance Central is the shiznit. LOVE that game.

We have the Kinect and it’s great!
Your Shape fitness gives you many options for working out. There are Zen classes based off Tai Chi, Cardio-Boxing, personal training options if you want to work on certain things (ie, glutes and legs, biceps and triceps, post baby or athletics training). It also has gym games such as balancing, boxing, and a hula-hooping game! Ouch! Not to metion nothing will motivate you like seeing yourself on your tv! Ha ha.
And yes, zippylef is correct. Dance Central is indeed the shiznit. It’s super fun and has a great song list. The work out mode for the game isn’t fantastic, but it at least gives you and idea of calories burned. Finally, the awesome thing about the kinect is that you don’t have to worry about staying on a board or holding onto a controller. It’s completely hands free, now how cool is that!?!
Wow, kinda sounds like I should be working for MicroSoft. =p
