I have heard about this, I also heard that the President wouldn't declare it a national disaster????
I actually have a lot of stuff that I am planning on taking to the flea market. I can send some stuff down there, do you know who I could mail it to??
@MrsSl82be: The only place that I know that's been collecting is Hill Country Bible Church.. you can check out the link above. They would be able to best direct you, since I actually don't live in the area... just know that it's not too far north of us and since I used to live there it's just been terrible to see
And yea, as of now he's not willing to... we've had over 3 million acres burned this summer.. but as of right now Obama is not stepping in.
I will forward this information to my church so they can do a collection, thanks!
edit: I just posted it to my churches home page and my FB, I will see if my friends and I can get some gas cards or money down there. I hope they get this thing under control! Fires and floods everywhere.
Ok, I will check out their link.
I just can't believe he isn't willing to step in and help. I honestly didn't read the article, but my heart goes out to the people down there, and of course, we have flooding and water devastation up here, but nowhere near what they are experiencing :(
@Annabelle86: THANK YOU!
@MrsSl82be: Yea.. IDK. I think it's crazy with how bad it's been. I mean 1400 families have been effected by this fire alone.. I don't even know what the total is for this fire season.
That is crazy, I guess I didn't realize the magnitude of it. Well, I also posted on my fb page, and I don't belong to a church, but I do belong to the Chamber of Commerce here, so I will post on that page as well.
If you know anyone who might need it, u-haul of austin is offering free storage to victims. I think they are also doing a donation drive.
My thoughts are with everyone in TX who are dealing with the fires... I hope they can get them contained soon =(

Hey ladies,
I just wanted to put the word out about the terrible wildfire down here in Bastrop Texas, if you haven't heard about it. It's been burning since Sunday and has already burned ~ 1,400 homes, 34,000 acres, and has killed 2 people.
This fire is still only 30% contained and fire officials say it still has pontential for growth.
We've had just under 400 firefighters constantly fighting this blaze since Sunday and we need more...
If you know any veteran or active firefighters that could come or feel like they could help, please pass on the information. Here is the Bastrop Fire FB page
Also, thousands of families have been displaced and have lost absolutely EVERYTHING.. if you can donate ANYTHING... ranging from baby clothes/needs to food then please do.
And the firefighters are in need of things like Gatorade, Powerade, Water, anything that has electrolytes, and protein bars... I cannot imagine how these men & women are still going like they are!
Here's the link to a Church in Austin that I know is helping
Hill Country Bible Church
And of course ladies your thoughts and prayers are always needed, wanted, and welcomed... We've had MANY MANY fires this year (over 100 just over the weekend) but this is by far the worst in our history and as of right now it's not letting down.
Here are just a few pics of the fire size, and damage... We won't know the extent until the fire is out...
Thanks ladies... it's such an awesome community here and I know that ya'll are always so supportive. Thanks for anyway you can help and for your thoughts and prayers.
