I will be marrying the love of my life in 97 days! I’m so excited and know it will be beautiful and fun. Everything I have ever imagined. I only have one thing that I am super nervous about. I got my engagement pics back from my photographer today and they are nice, she is very talented, but I am not so excited about the way I look. Double chin, tummy rolls, you know the fat girl works… I know that most women are harder on themselves than others, but what if I look like a cow in every pic of my wedding day? I have lost a little weight since our engagement but not where I wanted to be. Was anyone plesantly suprised when their wedding pics came in? I need encouragement and figure here is the best place to look for it with out feeling like a bridezilla and I know my family and friends and fiance all think that I am beautiful, I just wanted to hear from a few other full figured brides. I attached a few engagments. Thanks ladies!

I think you’re being too hard on yourself. I think you look really nice. My eyes naturally go right to your eyes, so I’m not seeing what you’re seeing. But even with that said, I think you should have a conversation with your photographer about what your concerns are and if s/he has any advice for you in how you pose or maybe so that s/he can be more conscious about what poses/angles to use.

@Mrs. Hot Wings: Thanks so much for your kind words and I think that is really great advice about talking to my photographer. Hopefully that will help!

I always find I really don’t like pictures taken of me from downwards looking up, or upwards looking down. For some reason I always think I look fat when they’re done like that. Maybe ask your photographer to take photos of you not from those angles?
Plus, your wedding dress is likely going to be very structured and therefore slimming. You’ll look great!

I think the pics look great and I agree with Mrs. Hot Wings that my eyes go straight to your eyes. You look great by the way. This is Alex, Jessica’s friend from high school. lol

You guys are so cute!
I’m gonna tell it to you straight 🙂 ….I’m a photographer and I’ve been photographing people for a long time. If I were a plus bride (and I was at one time) I would think about the following:
- I would never have someone photograph me from below.
- Distance is everyone’s friend. These close up shots that I see all the time on some bridal blogs are amateurish, because a great photographer will be able to also take images at a long range with a more complex composition.
- I would always ask about light retouching.
- Solid Colors are more slimming.
I’m a size 12 right now and am not a petite flower. My FI is a size 2-3x and is over 6′. I’m really particular about what will be shot at our wedding. I have friends who are professionals shooting it, but I requested some things that were important to me like shooting some of it with film, medium format, narrative images that are less posed and angles that work best with our body frames.
That being said, ironically, I don’t want an album stacked to the teeth with a million pictures. I’m fine with 10-15 amazing images that tell a story. So! You can edit your own album at the end and only show the few you love. It’s your day!
Best of luck!

@twitterpated0315: Thanks so much for your advice. I am defiantly going to have a conversation with my photographer about the angles and such. The next shoot I have is Bridals, which I think I might forgo. I have no need for that many pics of me in a pretty white dress. 🙂 But I will keep in mind what you said for the wedding day. I have to agree with you. I don’t want an album with a million pics of us, but more of a photo journalistic style. best wishes to you on your wedding day!

You’ll be wearing one of the best constructed pieces of clothing that you’ll ever own, and having someone who is professionally trained in making people look good photographing you. They won’t ALL be perfect, but I suspect you’ll look lovely. I’m about a size 20, and I had plenty of pictures that I loved. 🙂
