@christinenadine: i think lavender might be better than baby blue (personally), and I also think its fine, as long as the dresses are stylish, I see no problem with it, hope you find the perfect dresses!
I think it really depends on the dress. I've seen a lot of photos where the BM'S wore pastel colors and it looked amazing. Personally i would prefer baby blue over royal blue ( for example), everyone has a different taste
Maybe it's just how this david's bridal "dress your wedding" thing makes everything look super doofy XD
I just know bridesmaids want their dresses to be re-wearable and I feel like "pastel satin tea length dress" and "rewearable" can't go together unless you're 7 and it's easter
@christinenadine: you can always just go with white....i know, some ppl frown upon it, but its not like it will look like wedding gowns. Or do you want a bit of colour?
if you did use white, maybe you could also have a coloured (pastel) underskirt just peeping out from underneath. that gives the splash of colour,, but they then only have a white dress that they could maybe use again....?
I'm not opposed to white, I was thinking of doing white lace over purple/blue if I make them myself
I actually really like the look of all-white bridal parties, I'd just have to find some that look different enough from my dress but still cohesive (this is basically my dress, minus the weird flowers, for reference)

Mine are wearing 4 different pastel colours, 50s style. but they dont mind, and i am paying for the dresses anyway, so it wont matter to them too much. i LOVE pastels.
they are wearing a pastel dress, with a deeper colour underskirt....so a lilac dress will have a purple underskirt, the pink dress will have a darker pink underskirt and so on...
@anne B: I love your idea, sneeking the pastel in there, I would have totaly taken your advice on this one ! :) and maybe add a coloured wasit band or something :)
...your BM dresses sound super adorable. (I don't know why it cut off my post) I'd totally love to wear something like that. And I'd love to dress my BMs in that but we have pretty different tastes
@christinenadine: Don't worry, I think the BM dresses are a bit of a worry for all brides! I still hope mine does not hate me for putting them in bright purple...they are more earth tone kind of girls, but my wedding is SUPER bright and colourfull like me, so I think they will still love me afterwards :) good luck, post pics when you find the perfect dresses!!!!
Love the dress, and I think as long as you get the dresses right, they'd look fine in those colours.
I'm putting mine in light blue, and three out of four of the girls said they really liked the color. You can never make everyone happy, but I don't feel like a light blue is that bad! Try referring to it as sky blue instead of baby blue and maybe it will put it in a better light, too :).
My girls wore light blue as well, slightly darker than baby blue but 2 of the 3 have blue eyes so blue looks really good on them anyway. I'm still not sure how they felt about the dresses but they looked nice in photos and none of them expected to be able to wear the dress again regardless.
What designer/color light blue did you guys go with? My wedding colors are light blue, medium blue and white. I'd like to put the bridesmaids in light blue with medium blue accents, but I'm having trouble finding a light blue that I like.
Nah. Do what you like. Lavender would actually be really pretty! I hate the DB dress your bridal party thing. All of the colors are so flat...it doesn't give you a good idea of what everyone will look like at all!
I dont see anything wrong with pastels either, although I personally dont like tea length dresses. Dresses look best if they are full length [maxi] or knee length, Anything in between can sometimes look a bit awkward
Personally, I don't look that great in pastels, but I think other people can wear them fabulously. I would opt for lavender over baby blue. I remember when my friend was trying to find BM dresses for her weddind, I tried on a knee-length chiffon lavender dress at David's Bridal that was actually kind of nice. If I can find I'll post pic.
I love pastels so my MOH is wearing a lavender dress from JCrew but I hate hate hate tea lenght. So she's going to alter it to knee length. The other ladies are wearing grey dresses. Yes, they don't blend. No neither my FI nor my mother love it. Yes, they are still wearing it. Our colors are lilac, pink and grey and those were the colors the ladies picked.
I put my girls in yellow. They might hate the dress. but they haven't said anything to me about it. If they're real friends they'll wear whatever you want. I know I'd do it for any of them!
Yeah, for this day and age, pastels are really hard to convince anyone to wear. But good friends will do it and not whine about it (to your face)!

It's such a steryotypical bride thing to do. But our colors are white, lavender, and baby blue, so there's not a lot of choice. I promise they won't have poofy sleeves or a huge bow! I feel bad to make them buy a dress at all :p Tell me it's alright?
