I am getting married in a few months and I already ordered my dress. I ordered from a catalog so I never tried it on. It comes with a bolero which I need because I have acne scars on my back and don’t want my back to show so I will be wearing the bolero throughout my wedding. Here is my dress and bolero:
For my wedding I would like to have all my hair down or at least half up hair do, but I feel that with the ruffles in the bolero, it will be too much, if you get what I mean. I rarely wear all my hair up because I don’t think it looks good on me. Do you think having my hair all down or half down will be too much because of the ruffled bolero? I would like my hair to be curled and side swept bangs.

@Mrs.Ramos2b: I don’t think you have to put it all up with the bolero. I think you can do it half up. I’d do a consultation with the hairstylist you want to use a couple months before your wedding. I’d bring the bolero and headpiece with me, along with photos of what I like. I’m sure she/he would have some suggestions and ideas, as well.

i feel like it could be maybe a bit too much, depending on how long your hair is.
are you using any medications to clear up your back? what kind of scars do you have? you still have time to take care of it, so if you decide you want to take off your bolero at some point, you won’t feel self-concious 🙂

the bolero would look beautiful with that address.
I second PP’s recommendation of trying out various styles ahead of time. Take lots of photo and then see which you like.

Oh I love the ruffles on the bolero. Lovely! I think your hair would still look nice down w/it. Play around with your hair while wearing the bolero =) an get an idea of what you like. If your hair is quite long obviously it will cover the bolero some but I think it would still be nice.

My hair is pretty long. It’s like halfway down my back, maybe a bit longer. I am thinking about cutting it below my shoulders but not sure. The only thing I am using for my back is a medicated spray that I use when I get out the shower.
Thanks, most of the other boleros that came with dresses were plain and so I really liked this one. When I get my bolero I will just play around with my hair or go do a consultation and figure out what hairstyle compliments me the bolero.
I also hope (but doubt) that I could have all or most of my hair down and that it would cover my back so that I don’t have to wear the bolero all the time, but I guess I will have to wait and see until I get my dress.
Thank for your help ladies.

Your dress looks lovely and it would be a shame to cover the pretty back scoop and bolero with hair. I think I’d go for something like a low chignon or a ‘tucked up’ style that sits low on your neck, that way you’ll have some hair coverage but it won’t detract too much from your dress. Maybe these:
