- Wedding: March 2014
Bees, I need some advice. I am thinking of shortening my full length gown to tea length, but I need some opinions on if it will look ok or not.
I would ask my bridemaids, except one of them is so terribly consumed with planning her kid’s first birthday that the can’t even text me to let me know that her bridesmaid dress arrived, and the other is like an excited puppy that loves every single idea (and I love her for it, its nice to have someone so enthusiastic!).
Before dress shopping, I always imagined myself in a tea length dress, but its practically impossible to find any tea length dresses in Australia, and on the rare occasion that you can find one, they’re strapless (my ONLY “must” for a dress is straps). Our wedding will be outside in autum, so it could be hot, or rainy, and I don’t want to either die of heatstroke or drag a big long dress through mud. I only have 3 months until my wedding so its not feasible time or money-wise to look for other dresses.
This is my dress on the model
This is my dress on me. It needs to be taken in, and I am not wearing a slip underneath it in these photos, so once its altered, it should look more like on the model, not so loose in the hips.
I would have the skirt cut to approximately this length:
And this is what I would hope the end result might look like.
