so, I f*ed up an RSVP. we got a wedding invitation in the mail one week ago. the same day I RSVP’ed yes for both my husband and I. It’s a friend of his who’s getting married, I saw him and his now fiance once three years ago.
And today… i realized that there’s no way I’ll make it because I have a flight landing at home the same time the ceremony starts, and it’s two hours away. My husband will still go without me.
Both commitments were always so far in my mind that I didn’t think that they were the same day!
So, what’s the course of action? My husband emails the groom apologizing and telling them? i really don’t know them or I would do it myself… Will the bride absolutely hate me for messing up their numbers?

there is nothing you can do. Things happen…people dont show up. She will understand.

You aren’t messing up their numbers if it was only a week ago trust me. I would hope someone wouldn’t hate you over having to change your RSVP that’s quite ridiculous! Just have him follow up that you can’t make it.

@bebero: if it was only a week ago surely the RSVP cut off is still a few weeks away? I would call her, appologize for your error. Says your husband will be attending but you regretfully decline.

@MsJ2theZ: lol, thank you. i was so relaxed throughout my wedding planning (it took me like…4 emails to plan the thing for 50 people) that I freaked out thinking of her planning a formal affair for a lot of people

It was only a week ago. Contact her asap and tell her you screwed up.

@bebero: No problem, call and explain, they’ll understand.

Call her ASAP and explain the situation. Apologize, and be honest. If it was only a week ago, I doubt the deadline has passed to get her numbers to the caterer and other vendors!

Just contact them and let them know you RSVPd for 2 but realized only DH can make it. No big deal.

@bebero: no big deal. if you had realized this a week before the wedding then I would say maybe but you’re fine!
