Both our families did it on Christmas Day. His took their time throughout the day, though, while mine was typically done by 7am haha.
This year, since he leaves for work at 6:30am, we're getting up together at 4am to make a small breakfast and open presents.
We are traveling for Christmas, so we already opened our gifts from each other to avoid lugging them back and forth from home :)
We do Christmas eve at my parents place and Christmas day at his (our families both celebrate these days) and we will open our gifts tonight together . I like it being just the two of us and being able to share that special moment before the family chaos.
We talked about it and decided to save them for Christmas day - I really wanted to open them alone since its our first xmas together but his family is not big on gifts so i wanted to make sure we had something to open xmas day.
We bought his little brothers and sister a kinnect so we are going to try and get that opened on xmas eve so we can try it out!
He already gave me mine...I think...
We always try to wait until Christmas morning with the family, but its hard to do with the main gifts!
My DH works Christmas Day, so Christmas Eve morning we'll open presents with our baby.
@CanadianMermaid: I feel the same way! I want to open our gifts from each other by ourselves. I have a 3 year old step daughter. I don't want to take the spot light off of her!
His family does most of theirs on Christmas Eve and mine does pretty much ALL of ours on Christmas Day because Christmas Eve is my Mom's birthday.
This year is the first year we'll actually wake up together Christmas morning (in our house) and so we're going to get up around 9 and open our presents to eachother and have the dogs "open" their stockings.
Then we'll go to my house from around 10-3 and then his from 4-?
Um... we did our gifts last week. We're both impatient, LOL!
We are usually at one of our parents' houses for Christmas, so we never take our gifts to each other because it would just be more to haul back and forth.
Both (: He's coming to my grandma's house for Christmas Eve (we'll each open one present) and then sleepover so that Christmas morning he can open presents with my family and I. Later on Christmas we go to his house to open more presents and for Christmas lunch. Then after we go back to my house for supper with my other grandma and more presents! Haha it sounds really disorganized but it's actually not ;)
We will open gifts together Christmas morning, then relax and have a nice brunch. I have to work afternoon shift so he will be on his own the rest of the day.
We are traveling for Christmas, so we already opened our gifts from each other. Didn't see a point in shipping them to IN just to have to bring them back to TX with us.
He has this thing about me having something to open on Christmas Day, even if he gives me my big present before hand. This year, I picked out my presents, but he wrapped them so I would have something to open.
We will be opening our gift Christmas morning and then heading over to my parents to do a Christmas with them late morning.
We're doing all gifts on Christmas Eve this year, since I work Christmas morning until 3.
We opened ours thursday night. We left for my parents house this morning and will go to his parents tomorrow morning, so we didn't feel like dragging all the gevery all over the creation with us :-)

Growing up, my parents would let us kids open one small gift on Christmas Eve night. Then as soon as we woke up Christmas morning we sat around in our pajamas and opened gifts. I know some families open all of their gifts Christmas Eve night, some Christmas morning.
My DH and I won't get to celebrate our Christmas together until Christmas night. We have 2030928 places to visit before we can celebrate together.
How does you family do it?
