Okay, so I know myself. I already know that I will NEVER be able to sleep before our big day. (I couldn't even sleep thenight before I went to try dresses on for the first time I was so excited)
How many of you bees will be or did take something to help you sleep the night before? I never take sleep meds and wouldn't want something that would make me feel groggy and out of sorts the next day. I've taken melatonin, but don't feel that I see any real big difference with that.
Any suggestions?
Nope, I can't. The FHs ex died because of sleeping pill and they had the FH in the hospital because of them, so they are not allowed anywhere around us.
But I might have to stay up for 24 hours the day before, just to be able to sleep. As you can see, I am still up at 3:30
@tksjewelry: Glad I'm not the only one up at this un-Godly hour.
@Mrs.tobe: I'll probably just tough it out and try to make myself sleep, or in the same vein as tks, try to wake up extra early the day before to make sure I'm tuckered out by bed time on 'wedding-eve.' I've never taken sleeping pills or anything of that sort, so I'd be afraid to see their results if they weren't so pleasant and I was cranky or irritable or dopey the next day.
I'm probably going to force sleep the week leading up to the wedding, but the night before I will just try to sleep the way I usually do, so I'm not groggy for our early afternoon ceremony.
@tksjewelry:&@NDBee:Wow, that's horrible! I've never taken any kind of sleeping pill before either. I barely take over the counter pain medicine as it is. I'm a third shifter and I'm up all night anyway. So once it hits a certain point in the night and I'm still awake, I am awake for the long haul. Ughhhh.
@helenberrycrunch: I've taken this once or twice for it's intended use (
) but it's never really made me feel sleepy. Maybe I'm just weird like that.
I like to sing Bob Segar's "Night Moves" when it gets too unbearable here. If a patient hears me, though, there have been duets.
@helenberrycrunch:Nice. People are always sneaking up on me here. I'm back in a dept. by myself. I blame them for my dark circles. But then patients will make some comment asking if "I'm old enough to be doing this job" so then I feel better about myself and my dark circles.
Thanks for getting night moves stuck in my head.
Maybe you could make some extra cash for the wedding like the movie Night Shift, man, I am aging myself with that one.
@helenberrycrunch:Ah, the lovely taking of the x-rays and CT scans. You?
@tksjewelry: I knew what it was, even though I'm practically still teething.
I was prepared to take one Tylenol PM, but by the end of the night two glasses of champagne with my girls had put me down.
Oh man, now I do feel old. But it was a hysterical movie, worthy of a rent. Henry Winkler , Micheal Keaton and hookers, could it get any better than that?
That is prob what I will do, two big glasses of bacardi oj, should put me right out, especially if I am tired.
@helenberrycrunch: I bet you do get a lot of duets.
@tksjewelry: Who doesn't love a good hooker flick??
@Mrs Sarah McK: I thought about the booze too. But I kind of have a high tolerance.
No judgement! HA-HA
@helenberrycrunch: Our ER could be considered a psych ward in it's own respect.
I wish I could have alittle higher tolerance. Stopped by the bar tonight to chat with the owner, she poured me a drink and I was tipsy. In my defense, it was a pint glass and it was three quarters bacardi. I should never let her pour me drinks, you would think I would learn that by now.
I think ERs are psych wards after the sun goes down, at least the ones around here. OMG, I don't know how you all do it.
@tksjewelry: I talk to my bartender all the time on FB. Does that make me an alcoholic? I think maybe so. Especially since I don't even get stopped by the bouncer on my way into to the bar- and neither does anyone with me.
@helenberrycrunch: I'm tellin' ya.
@tksjewelry: It can get a little squirrely at night fo' sho'.
My best friend's parents growing up owned a liquor store. Enough said.
Every once in awhile they get a new one and they try to ID me, I just laugh and walk to my seat by the owner. I have known them since they bought the place and I was working at the bar up the street. They are like aunts and uncles now.
@tksjewelry:It's gotta count for something!
Aaaaaand you previously worked at a bar up the street?? That counts too.
Benadryl is always a good way to go! But if you are scared to do it and want to go a more natural route, try taking melatonin. Melatonin is what your brain produces naturally to help you fall asleep, and they sell OTC versions. In college I used to pop 4 a night (they are only 1mg each). And they don't leave you feeling drowsy at all!
@april30: Yeah, I've got the 5mg, but they don't seem to do much for me.
