Wind level on Los Angeles beaches in August/ September

I've lived in the LA/OC area all my life, but apparently I'm just really unobservant and having trouble recalling how windy the beaches in LA get in August and September.

I'm trying to decide on a venue - I love the idea of a beach wedding, and the venue I love the most is right next to the beach - maybe less than 50 yards away.  The ceremony would be outdoors - not on the sand, but on a grassy area overlooking the beach - and the reception would be indoors.

When I went and visited this venue in May (it's Redondo Beach, to be precise) the wind was a pain that day, so it got me thinking.  I know beach weather is unpredictable overall, but as a general rule how much wind would you expect on average at or near an LA beach in August or September in the evening?

    Thanks guys!

I THINK it gets pretty windy in the evenings.  I'm really unobservant too though!  I just asked FI who went to a friend's wedding on the beach in June and he said it was windy and that it made noise through the microphone.

I'm also thinking that it's more windy on the beach than it would be at a spot overlooking the beach, so maybe you'll be fine.  Since it's such an unpredictable thing, think about what you value more: having your wedding at your fave place v. your veil blowing in the wind and the microphone picking up the noise during your ceremony.  I don't think either of these things would be a big deal in the long run, but it's up to you!

@pinkvalentine: Thanks for your input.  :)  A little wind doesn't deter me, so ultimately I don't think it's a big deal and I don't think it's enough of a concern to sway me from choosing a venue I really love.  My biggest concern is really the comfort of my guests, but luckily the ceremony would only be about 20 minutes long.

August should be ok, but September is unpredictable. Our wedding is in September and the weather gave me several panic attack. On the day of, there was thunderstorm and rain in the morning, but after 10am, the weather was nice and warm.

LA is known for having Indian Summer in Sept/Oct so if you can, have your wedding in August; especially if you want an outdoor wedding.
