thanks for the review! we were looking at having our reception there because we've heard nothing but good things about the food and overall ambiance. (we ultimately decided to go somewhere else though). thanks for the review! i wouldn't want to deal with the hassle of bad employees and whatnot!
Wow thanks for this review! They are absolutely no longer a contender for us! (I hated all the green anyway, FH just happens to love the industrial vibe.) I had read one review about theft... but no others so I blew it off. How terrible, I'm sorry you had to go through all that! *hugs*
I went to Windows as a guest to a wedding and thought the staff was horrible as well! I had to ask 3 times for them to refill my water!
I looked at Windows on the River when I started my wedding planning in the Spring of 2009. The event coordinator told me I could go see the space on my own the next weekend, but she would not schedule time to meet with me. Honestly that crappy attitude should have been my first red flag with this place.
Anyways, my hubby to be and I went to see the space. Despite our concerns with the event coordinator, we decided that we liked the space a lot and wanted to book it for our wedding.
I called the event coordinator the following Monday. She had no idea who I was despite the fact that I had just talked to her the previous Thursday. During that previous conversation I gave her my name, date I wanted for my wedding, told her that we wanted to use the outside patio etc etc... I went ahead and told her that I wanted to book September 5th for my wedding and she told me it had booked in the last few days. I was pretty shocked. She told me we could book the room upstairs which is not what we wanted at all. When I refused she said we could book the following Saturday. Thankfully I looked at my calendar because she was trying to sell me Saturday, September 11th! That date was not OK for me and I was truly annoyed that she was trying to sell me a very unpopular date.
We ended up having our wedding at Manakiki in Willoughby Hills. It was perfect and I so glad that we did not go with Windows on the River!
We turned down Windows on the River and had our reception at The Club at Key Center - definitely the better choice! The staff, food and ambiance exceeded our expectations on that night and throughout the whole planning process. Don't go anywhere else for a wedding in Cleveland!

Recently we used Windows on the River in Cleveland, Ohio for a wedding. The food was excellent and if you organized your tables the service is good. Location is not easy to find for out of town guests. Event sale manager is not the same person who handles the wedding, there is another staff person on duty during the event. Their job duties are not clearly communicated to you prior to the event. All rules are followed, no exceptions. All fees must be paid before the event. We had 4 hours to decorate the area for the wedding, including all table decorations. Biggest problem was the theft by their staff. Before the event, decorations were stolen. During the event, their staff took and kept centerpieces, guest gifts off the tables and Christmas decorations along with personalized wedding items. We spent the entire night attempting to retrieve these items and returning them to guests or safe guarding personalized wedding items. A0dditionally once the event is over, decorations must be cleared out immediately. At 12:00 AM, their staff was ready to tear down tables which met all of your items must be out of the way and packed before they start. Even though the manager was aware of these issues they did not contact us after the event.
